did your kids start solids early or late, how well do they eat, and was the transition easy or difficult.

I breast fed mine till he was one, then he just didn't want to anymore. He was ripping apart steak since before he had teeth. He ate anything and everything. when his jaws seemed strong enough and he was mashing with them, I would give him anything i could mash easily between my fingers like well cooked veggies or soft fruits. Once he was good with that Id give him things like cheerios, but at first i would make sure i smashed them too. He never liked baby foods though. Wish i could get him to eat like that now, hes 3. He only wants pizza and chicken nuggets.
My friend bottle fed both hers and they started eating solid foods well at close to a year.
Most of the stories that I had heard before i posted this question seemed to mirror that, so I was just curious.
Thank You for your imput.

I was unable to breastfeed (for medical reasons) so I formula fed both of my kids. They started rice cereal at 4 months and fruits and vegs at 5 months and they both took to them right away. They're now incredibly healthy toddlers. However, they're also incredibly picky eaters, but not so that they're becoming malnourished...they're actually both in the 90 - 95 percentile for height and weight. My nearly 4 year old is coming around, and his 2.5 year old brother is getting "somewhat" better. I don't think this is due to the fact that I formula fed though...I think it's just a stage that most toddlers go through. :)

I attempted breast feeding, but ultimately ended up bottle feeding with formula.
He started cereal at exactly 11 weeks. Stage 1 foods at around 5 1/2 months, stage 2 foods at about 7 months, and I just now bought a few stage 3 foods to try him out on.
He also can eat adult mac & cheese shells and I give him the inside of bread, baby puff snacks and Cheerios ALL with supervision. Mashed potatoes too, but those are not a big deal since the consistency is abut like the stage 2 foods.
He's a bit of a piggy, so the transition wasn't really hard. He hasn't turned his nose up at any of the foods yet, although I can tell there are some he likes alot better than others. We have days where he won't eat alot, but it comes and goes. He started that about a month ago when his bottom two teeth were coming in. He's doing it off and on right now also (he has 6 teeth coming in on the top at the same time). He's definitely healthy...almost 9 1/2 months and weighs 23 lbs and is 28 1/2 inches long. He's just a good solid built kid...not fat, other than the norm for a baby.
Just curious though...does anyone else's little one drink alot still?

My first was breastfed for a short time and then drank formula. She started solids at 4 months and used to not be picky at all. She's 8 now and EXTREMELY picky (no sandwiches but peanut butter, no ham, nothing with sauce, food can't touch or be mixed...) And she's gotten better. I used to have to call everything steak or chicken or she wouldn't touch it LOL
My son is still breastfeeding at 14 months. He started solids at 6 months and loves food but clearly prefers the boob to anything else. The only thing he doesn't like are eggs- other than that he'll eat anything we do.

I bottle feed my daughter and did the same with my son. I am on meds and not to mention just did not feel it was for me to do that. As for solids...are you thinking baby food or cheerios? I started baby cereal around 3 mths. Then actual jars of baby food at 4 mths. But as for cheerios and things like that...not until like 7-8 mths. With a transition.from formula to food there is never a transition. They should always receive milk with whatever else they are given. If you mean a transition from breast to bottle..some babies take to it and others don't. I know the earlier you start the better. So I hope this answers your question. Email me if you need more info.

First child breastfed exclusivly for first 13 months. Second for first 6 months. Third For 4 months and then the last for 4 months also. I had to work with the last ones they wanted more than I could pump so I had to go to formula.
They all started solids around the same time though about 12 months for table food but around 4-5 months for baby food.

Breast fed, then bottle fed. The transition went smoothly. We started cereal at 4 months, solids at 6 months.

I was bottle fed. My 2 sons were also bottle fed. I did try to breastfeed but my first son would not take to it and so I had to go to the bottle. My second son was sick at birth and they told me it would be better to bottle feed so they knew exactly what he was eating. Both my sons were easy to start giving solids to. My youngest was the piglet and needed it really early on...he was about 3 months when I started giving him a very small amount of solids. My oldest was about 6 months.

I breastfed until I had to stop at 6 weeks, and hes been on formula ever since. Under Dr's advice, I just started rice cereal yesterday. Hes a little over 3 months and he took to it right away...he loves eating cereal and has no problem with it whatsoever. Happy Holidays!

Breastfeeding a 16 month old now. Breastfed our son 11 years ago.
We started solids with our son at 6 months and we started solids with our daughter at 6.5 months.
She eats great- the only food she doesn't like is eggs. She never had cereal and neither did our son- I mixed it for him and he hated the stuff. I opted to skip it.
Transition- very easy.
