As a child, on the back of a Cornflake box, there was a picture of the brand new Boeing 707 in the [ now defunct ] beautiful blue modern Pan Am livery on a white background.

I knew I'd never fly to America [or anywhere else] in one of them, no way could I or anyone in my family have the money - ever.

At that time, children's TV in the afternoon was generally a Western cowboy, the Lone Ranger, the Sisco Kid, the Range Rider and so on [ or even Robin Hood or William Tell ]. Anyway, I grew up 'bi-lingual', I could speak American and - to cut a story short, I did get to fly 'the big bird,' and fly it on my own [ without family - which to me was a kind of wonder, have had a physical disability as an infant ].

I have been back some 20+ times with my backpack + camera and travelled all over, something I can no longer do without risking my health.

At times it lived up to the fantasy, at other times ...I was left wondering about absurdities I saw which are neither here nor there at the moment.

Sash.
PS: I could understand the natives, but often they couldn't understand me.

I find that I get more out of the fantasy if I keep it a fantasy. I have tried to live out some sexual fantasies and find that the reality is not possible and that there is no excitement there. For example; one can fantasize about some sexual thing like a sado masochistic activity but in reality being tied up and tortured to sexual heights and finally the orgasm is for most people I have talked to something they wish not to have repeated ever. There are fantasies that perhaps are lived out by lots of people. It is just a matter of what you like and dont. A fantasy might be something you like to live out and might not be. Good luck.

Maybe not a fantasy but dreams like places I want to travel and see. I saw the pyramids - that was brilliant!

My fantasy is to see questions on Y!A asked by people with a more than basic level of literacy, sadly, after reading this question, I realise that I am still waiting to be fulfilled!
