I'm getting an Ipod Touch for christmas this year. It says that you can go on any website as long as you have WiFi connection. My question(s) is this - What is the rough cost for a WiFi router or whatever it's called.

Do you have to pay monthly cost after you buy the WiFi router?

What are some good wifi routers that are pretty cheep?

Thanks in advance.

What do people think of the Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G 54MBPS Broadband router? It's in my price range (its $50) but how good does it work? Also - does it matter what type of internet you have for a router?

The linksys is a good choice.

You connect the linksys router to your broadband modem, the linksys has 4 ports that you can use to connect your existing wired equipment (using Ethernet).

You don't pay any extra, but you do need to have broadband Internet access. Wifi is local to your immediate home, it won't work if you are more than about 100 feet away from the router.

You can pick up wifi signals at places known as a hotspot - MacDonalds, Starbucks, some libraries etc.. offer wifi service.

a classic router will plug into telephone or cable line and into your pc providing you with internet get entry to a on the spot router or WIFI router beams a sign out allowing units which comprise your laptop, sensible telephone, gaming gadget ,ect to %. up this sign and connect. Older desktops and different units have not got the mandatory hardware (on the spot community interface card) that could %. up those on the spot alerts so internet companies will concern adapters that is plugged into maximum units making use of USB. think of of it like this the router is shouting whats up im here and the little stick is saying OHHH whats up there you're.. ^_^ in an attempt to respond to your question definite you're turning out to be to be wifi as quickly as its all setup and the wifi router is largely a gadget used to beam the sign.
