2. Quit using credit cards and carry cash for all purchases (you'd be amazing how that will slow down your spending)

The only "good" way to manage DEBT is not to have any. You can TRACK your spending is nearly any program. Microsoft Money and Quicken are 2 of the best known programs for Personal Finance. Microsoft Excel (the spreadsheet) will keep records quite well. It just takes more work to create useful reports than the others.
