3.No knowledge of traffic rules which encourage to violate the rules.
4. Enforcement of rules by dishonest persons who are busy in collection of illegal money from traffic rules violators.
5.Heavy numbers of vehicle on roads.

Reason of traffic jam is 90% Headless EDUCATED on S. Wheel This is like people pushing each other in public places !!! No law follower. No fines to persons responsible for traffic jams. Can you just imagine Traffic is moving slowly and a women with her kid , or small school children are waiting to cross the road. If you stop your car and let then cross the road and then again you start ,I assure you that within 30 sec you will be agian in that traffic.

I will tell everyone about a traffic rule Which we should follow--
On road crossings if your light is green then also you should wait and see IS THERE SPACE FOR YOUR CAR ON THE OTHERSIDE OF THE CROSSING , If Yes , then go ahead otherwise wait for space. This will ELIMINATE traffic jams.Do you agree with me .

There are multiple reasons but the main one is driver stupidity.

For example on a highway when it's busy you get the slow poke who changes lanes and a speeder who over brakes and causes a lane slowdown, this causes others in other lanes to slow as they don't know what's happening. In slowhour this causes a chain reaction that can quickly go for half a mile in less than half a minute.

In town you get those idiots who try to fit through a light even when the light has started to change and they now block one lane of the road for the 90 degree traffic. This now creates a backlog of vehicles for that green and this can quickly carry over into the next light as too much traffic coming in behind.

You also get the ones who are not paying attention and don't go on advanced greens, or go when traffic goes but sit there (oh yeah babbling on their cells) and you miss the light.

There are more reasons but you get the idea, mainly people not paying proper attention and doing stupid things.

Main reason. Too many vehicles on road simultaneously, at a given point of time and location.

Possible Solutions:
1) Developing adequate infrastructure for handling traffic volume. Sick and slow moving vehicles should not be allowed to hamper smooth traffic flow. Vehicle parking on roads takes away major chunk of driving space. Provide scientifically thought & metered parking bays) - Administrative.

2) Road users too should have consideration for other road users/pedestrians - the right of way.
3) RTO licensed drivers - must strictly adhere to the traffic rules (mandatory & customary) stipulated.
4) Start early. Plan wisely. Drive neately. Reach safely. Prevent pollution. Protect Environment.

Idiots talking on the cell phone, not paying attention to the road, wanting to make left hand turns from the far right lane, and construction. All of these make traffic stop therefore slow it down all around.

poor highway design leading to congestion (bad ramps requiring vehicles to force their way in, others have to brake to avoid)
insufficient vehicle capacity (too many cars on one stretch of highway)

Any of the last 3 can contribute to the first.

Possible solutions......... longer entry and exit ramps to allow one to accelerate or decelerate to speed outside of the flow of traffic. .........more use of mass transit and car pooling, ........more living near the job to allow bus, bike, or on-foot commuting ..........stricter enforcement of lane cutting and signalling laws to lessen sudden manuevers. ...........closure of and greater spacing of ramps to encourage use of secondary roads .........closure of ramps in construction zones ........getting serious about safety by requiring the forfeiture of any vehicle driven by someone with a suspended or revoked license unless the vehicle was stolen
