You really don't want to house them in a cold water tank, if you live in Miami then the reason they're happy in your pond is due to the heat that is normal down in Florida.

I probably wouldn't capture them and put them in a tank, they're way too used to being outside. It's possible that a few could be taken and put in a tank but like someone else said, they need a nice big tank.

As you know, they propagate rather readily so your small tank would be full faster than you would know what to do. I imagine you could try and sell your fish to a local Mom and Pops fish store but they probably get them at discount anyway.

The other option to simply put an ad out in your local paper, something like: "African Cichlids for sale, pond raised."

Cichlids cost from $12-$40. It depends on the species that your talking about. The cichlid that you have is an electric blue haplochromis. No, you can't house cichlids in a 40 gallon tank. You need at least a 55-75 gallons tank. African Cichlids also need tropical water (87-82) and the pH of the water should be at least 8.0. It's really the maintenance that makes the difference for your Cichlids.
