i am a pediatric nurse and a 3wk old with a cough is concerning to me this time of year. we are full at the brim with kids right now and it is respiratory season. does he have a fever >100.5F? does it look like he is having a rough time breathing? if the cough worsens take him to the er. definatly make an appointment for him in the morning at your children's clinic. it is better to be safe than sorry with those little ones. especially with all the bugs going around this winter season.

Rule of thumb: Anytime your infant cuts back significantly on eating or seems like they are struggling to breathe, that always warrants an immediate doctor visit...fever or no fever. How your baby acts, is more important than what shows up on the thermometer.

I would say that's all you can really do until you can get the baby to the doctor. I know that when my kids were little like that and were sick I would sleep with them on my chest in a recliner.Good luck!

You should have a doctor look at him, but also it is important to keep your baby very bundled up, especially his head.

If possible, do keep him with you at night.
