Good Morning,

Lately looking at "Fein Multi Purpose Tool" System.

I know WHERE to purchase, so please save those words.

I also know a general price range, but certainly E bay starts them low.

The Q more relates to anyone owning such, or their experiences with such.

One of the features is what I'm curious about (Oscillating), as it relates to Tile and Grout cutting. Currently a Diag. Grinder with a Diamond blade creates more dust than I want.

Thanks to all, Happy HollyDaze

Thanks Peter, certainly a valid notion, Thumbs up.,,, But that isn't strictly "portable" enough, and defines another appliance that has to be moved about. I do use a shop vac with a wide "blade" attachment, but not strictly attached to the grinder. The issue is in remediating 11,000 sq. ft. of initially, poorly installed tile.
BUT in that same notion is included that "MULTI" as the keyword, and as a Contractor, I have more tools than I need already, but This tool also can cut door moldings UP, for tile or other flooring, and many other attachments are available.
It kind of reminds me of the SHOP MATE all purpose tool, but certainly palm size.

I do use what shielding I can, but have Fire Detection sensors that are extremely sensitive to the dust, on the current job.

Hi Doc,
Thanks for the email notice - I don't get them, intentionally (more on that another time). A good friend of mine has one of these - a cordless one. He absolutely loves the tool. His only complaint is that it is a 9.6V and he wishes it had a little more power and length of service time. But that aside, he highly recommends it. He does a lot of work where there's no power (except a generator) so cordless tools are great. I don't know if he would take the cordless if most job sites had power though. Maybe he'll read this and respond.
Merry Christmas

I would be more inclined to make a collator for my shop vac to corral the dust created by your current tool rather than try another (much more expensive) one. The shield should already be installed on the grinder, so the dust can't be coming off in 360 degrees. Generally it is immediately next to where the wheel is contacting the surface. A collator fashioned from a galvanized tin heating duct would probably collect as much dust as you would find suitable--and they're cheap. Just tape it to the vac's hose. I would only consider this if the vac I was using had at least a 2" dia. hose, the 1" hoses are anemic.

I have used the fien tool for just what you are asking, removal of grout. The dust that is made is kept very Close to the cutting action as there is no breeze to blow it in the air
