I always worry that whilst out in town ...searching for a sick phone...I'll be run over by a "bleeping" reversing truck.

I'm not sure what a "sick phone" is, but I have to agree. I have a 2-yr-old at home, and after he goes to bed, I pick up his toys, and I have to be ultra-careful putting them in his toybox, because literally 9 out of 10 talk, sing, play music, beep, siren, wail, or screech. My gf works nights, so after hes asleep and im on the computer, sometimes I just leave the TV off, and sit here in silence.

Not only that, there is nothing without background sound these days. You have only to watch The Weakest Link or Deal Or No Deal to realise there is never a quiet moment. There is always some quasi chiming going on, which one could never classify as music. Worst of all is that wretched clock in Countdown, which is why I never watch that programme and hardly ever the two earlier mentioned.

Hey, at my age, if things didn't bleep at me I wouldn't remember anything! The microwave, my watch, my clock, my timer, my phone, my computer! And if the dang truck didn't bleep, I would probably walk into it while I am thinking about something else!

The one sound I love is the sound of my antique clock chiming.

Sorry, didn't hear you.
No. A few years back, a local government area close to where I live introduced beepers on the traffic lights for blind people. Would you believe that the residents complained? Well they did!
Not only that, they took them away!

Yes, everything makes a racket. Give me back my piece and quite! I make a beeline for the clothes dryer every time so I can catch it before it screams at me. The coffee pot beeps, the elect. heater beeps, the answering machine beeps, shut up already.

Round here the vehicles say " Attention! This vehicle is reversing" you can hear it about half a mile away.
