I've been doing some reading and I am getting myself confused. Also..what is the body fat a woman needs to be able to get pregnant?.. And I was told at one time that I would never have babies.. then last year I did end up having 2 miscarriages ... so this means that it is possible right?.. They were very short pregnancys.. like if I wasn't testing on my period dates..I wpould have never known. My doc says that is very common. Sorry for all the questions all in one but answers and advice would be appreciated!

The reason I was told I would never get pregnant is becuase I had Wilms tumor as a baby and recieved a lot of radiation in my abdomen area. Also... please.. people do not need to be calling me stupid a child like names for asking questions. If you do not have anything nice to say ... then please dont. I have already had to delte many rude statements which I think is very sad,

Good ovulation means your fertile.
So theres always a chance that your pregnant.

Unless you EXTREMELY underweight you really don't need to worry about the body fat needed to get pregnant.

Theres always a possibilty.

Yes, you can get your period and not ovulate. It is called anovulatory cycle.

Read the book: Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. The book explains your cycle, charting and how to get pregnant. It is a great book and a must read. Buy a basal thermometer at the drug store. You need to start charting your waking temperature so that you can get an accurate picture of what is happening in your cycles. This information can aid you in having sex at the correct time as well as providing your doctors with information that can lead them to figuring out what the problem is if there is a problem.

Charting your waking temperature is the only way you will know for sure if and when you are ovulating.

Unfortunately, miscarriages are very common. 25% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage.

As far as body fat goes.........if you are under weight, it will not help you in trying to conceive and it could be dangerous for the baby that you do conceive. When you are pregnant you must eat healthy and eat an adequate amount of calories to have a healthy pregnancy. If you think that you are under weight or over weight, talk to your doctor. Your doctor can put you on the right track to being as healthy as you can be for conception and pregnancy.

I think you are overdue for a long talk with your doctor. Why do you think you are not ovulating? What is your body fat? Why were you told you wouldn't have babies?

Generally, a period means you're ovulating, but it's possible that you have blocked tubes that prevent the sperm from reaching the egg. This can be cleared up.

Body fat needs to be high enough to allow you to menstruate: low body fat won't prevent pregnancy like birth control will, so don't rely on it.

You should find out why you miscarried: there's a difference between getting pregnant and carrying a pregnancy to term. Basically, your questions should be answered by your doctor, not by people online.

The above two people are right!
My Dr thinks that I may not be ovulating, And I have had my period every month!
Though the last two months they have been really messed up.
I have had 3 periods in 2 months. Which is not normal for me!
If you are not ovulating and you are seeing a Dr...he or she might put you on a drug, to help induce ovulation..which would help in your situation.
If you have not been to a specialist, I would suggest you find one to help, It would not hurt! They also can do tests on which, they can find out if something is wrong.
I would take the fact you have gotten pregnant a good sign!
I hope all goes well!
good luck and I hope you get prego soon!
Merry Christmas, or if you celebrate a different holiday...
Happy Holidays!

The fact that you do have periods is no indication of whether you are ovulating or not. The period is the lining of your uterus, not an egg. However, the fact that you have got pregnant twice is an indication that you do ovulate, otherwise your egg would not have been released and then fertilised. I know it is common to have early losses such as yours, but I also know it doesn't make it easier on your emotions to know it is common. I would definitely recommend talking to your doctor. Make a list of all the things you want to ask before you go in. That is what I did, and I found it very helpful and informative.

Best of luck x x

If you have your period, you have ovulated. What tests were performed in order for this doctor to tell you that you cannot have children?
I was told I could not have children, and I have been pregnant 5 times. 4 miscarriages and one live birth. The preganancy in which my daughter was conceived; I was told to get an abortion because my baby would surely die, and I could possibly die too. I would never get an abortion, and now I have a perfectly healthy 10 year old girl.
I suggest getting a second opinion.
Regarding the body fat...I know too much or too little can affect pregnancy or even being able to get pregnant. When all of my pregnancies occured, I was 5'2", 90 lbs.
Good luck!

You can have a period without ovulating .... normally your peroid starts after you have ovulated and there is not fertilized egg implanted in the uterus ..... There are tests on the market to see if you are ovulating ... If you are trying to get pregnant don't try so hard let it come naturally the stress is not good trust me my husband and I tried for almost 2 years and was stressing out over test after test coming back negative .... and a miscarriage earlier this year we are pregnant and due in March .... Good Luck to you

No menstruation does not mean you are ovulating. Many women have "anovulatory" cycles.

Yes very early miscarriages are common, no one really knows how common because most women would never notice.

One happens after the other. around 7 days after start of the period the ovulas are ripe and easy to penetrate by sperm. A normal pregnancy should still last 9 month.

You need to find out the reason they saud youd never have babies...getting pregnant is one thing...but being able to carry it for 9 months is another...see your doctor and ask how best to concieve and carry to term.
