I used to pronounce it like ay-va-tar, but now I pronounce it av-ah-tar, even though I swore that I was never going to pronounce it that way. I wonder what changed ?

The way someone from Italy would pronounce it. I 'm not Italian but Greek and Italian pronounciation of English sound alike.
Sth like uvutur (u similar to a, not to e or ou)

I say a-(as in apple)-vah (like the female body part)-tar (like the sticky stuff)
