Given the history we have with Hawaii we would always be obligated to protect it, even if it wasn't a state. Better that it remains a state. It can't 'unbecome' a state anyway, recall the civil war.

At one time, Hawaii WAS its own country. However, in 1893, Queen Liliuokalani, the last monarch of Hawaii, was overthrown by American and European business interests, as well as her Cabinet. Officially, there was a"Republic of Hawaii" from the overthrow of Queen Liliuokalani until Hawaii was annexed as a U.S. territory in 1898. As for a state leaving the Union, several states already tried that in the 1860s. Ultimately, they were NOT successful. Should U.S. Military personnel be allowed to vote in an election on Hawaiian sovereignty? Such people as out of town college students and military personnel are generally restricted when it comes to voting anyway.

This is not happening . It would be like Australia giving up the Great Barrier Reef because its offshore. Tourism brings in alot of money. But I truly hope Hawaii does not become
integrated into America would be a shame to lose different cultures and traditions...just my opinion.

It is the 50th state, and it WAS a sovereign nation until American interests overthrew the queen and the government in 1891. There are an effort to create a Hawaiian nation, much like many Indian nations on the mainland.

It needs to be a state because the thing is if we seperated them, we would lose a lot of tourism money and hawaii would lose a lot of money too. Hawaii would probably not be able to survive because we support all of their money except for the state money and that pays for development of researches, imports, exports and food. They need to be a state.
