I'm 24, & my mom will be 60 next month. She's always urinating on herself, & she REFUSES to wear those diapers. Sometimes, we think it's DELIBERATE. A couple of years ago, she urinated in my BRAND new car because she was jealous that I had a new car & she was riding around in a cracker jack box. When my brother got his new apartment, she urinated on his carpet & then said, "Yeah, M/Fer I pissed on your carpet!" & when you go to her house, it smells pissy. She gets offended when you don't want to sit on her pissy couch. & then you go home smelling like piss. I heard she was schizophrenic & mentally out of her head. She's out to ruin all her kids' lives. How can you be jealous of your kids? She tried to murder me & my twin sister when she was pregnant with us & shortly after we were born. She always brags & boasts about how she's smarter than all her kids. She has a GED, while I have a college degree. She never wants to see us get ahead in life. She's always trying to hold us back.

This is not normal at all. Now grant it, when you get older you do have a hard time controlling your bladder, that applies to men and women. But from what you are saying, this is a deliberate thing that she is doing. If I was you, I would have a talk with her doctor and let him/her know what she was doing. I am sorry to say this but it sounds as though your mom has some sort of a mental problem and in most cases this can be controlled through medicine of some sort. I am sorry that you are having to go through this.

Your mother needs to take a trip to the doctors in order to determine what the actual problem is, it may well be physical or it may be mental. I would refuse to wear diapers if I was her age, people still have self respect at that age - even if they can't control what their bodies are doing.

Personally, I don't think you should be posting this on a message board the way you have done. The fact that you refer to her as (quote: "pissy") sums up the matter that you lack respect for her. Would she want you to be telling thousands of people about her problem(s)?

Seriously though, if she has a problem try and get her help. Don't rake up the past because there's nothing that can be done about it. She may be scared that you will leave her and then knowbody will be able to help her with her problems or way of life anymore, if she's got use to you being around it will be quite difficult to say goodbye.

Your Mother MAY have had a stroke & it left her with this problem. If she won't go to a Doctor, then there isn't much you can do. She's most likely a stubborn & proud woman who might be too ashamed to admit she has some type of a problem (mental or physical). These silent strokes can cause many problems & she needs to have a complete physical ASAP to determine if she is capable of continuing living in her current state.
URGE HER TO GET CHECKED OUT PLEASE!!! The more you can learn about your Mother will be helpful for you to diagnose your own problems as you grow older because some of her problems might be genetic & you will also get them!
Try not to hate her. She did her best with what she had. She must have some love for you & I'm sure she also must have many fears. Have you ever considered taking some anger management classes or going to a few AA or ACA meetings to hear how bad other people have it in their lives? It might help you to see that you aren't alone in the problems of your family. Many people have similar & worse problems than the ones you have mentioned...they just never talk about it & that's why we feel confusion when these things start to bother us in our lives! They are kept behind closed doors & I applaud you for taking the first step in reaching out by asking this question about your Mother.

Either 1 your mother is incontinent, or 2 she is deliberately doing things like that on purpose, it's not uncommon for parents to be jealous of their kids because of there own shortcomings which they sometimes try to blame on their kids I have a friend who's mom is always telling him how he 'held her back in life' and wished she had gotten an abortion. If your moms house always smells like piss, there's probably a chance that she may have some form of dementia, dementia ranges from Schizophrenia to Alzheimer's and all different degrees of intensity in between, what I suggest to you is that you go with your mom to one of her doctors appointments and explain your concerns to the doctor, she may need meds psychiatric counseling or an MRI to see what's really going on with her, people with mental disabilities can't help what they do (sometimes) so try to help her before judging her,

No definitely not normal, the conditions you were speaking of. I think you answered your question yourself. It seems you need validation in being angry, hurt, disappointed and maybe even disgusted with your mothers behavior and acting out to get attention. I am sorry you did not and do not have the mother you probably always wished you could have. No matter what she is your mother. Love her. That doesn't mean you have to like her behavior or even who she is, but still just love her. She sounds as though she is mentally ill so maybe you could think of her as such so you can still love her and accept her as ill and not quite all as she should be.

Urinary incontinence occurs more with age, but it is not normal.
If she goes to a doctor, he can check out what type of incontinence she has - what is causing it.
Some of the treatments are doing Kegel exercises, taking medication to prevent bladder spasms, collagen injections, an implanted device called InterStim. If the problem is weak muscles that support the bladder a "pessary" can be inserted to hold the bladder up.
She doesn't sound like she is open to suggestions but appeal to her self respect. She has a problem that she can correct.

she is being loon-a-tic and all you can do is pray for her. is she's doing that on purpose then she is not being a good parent to you guys. dont let her control you guys life all that does is make you guys stronger in life and that you will make it no matter what the next person says but deep down inside she loves you guys and she cares about you a lot. urinating on guys furniture and all is not the way to do that and if she can go to the restroom like normal 60 yr olds then she definitely needs to cut the BS.

This is a tragedy. You should bring your mother in a home for elder citizens. It is not normal at all but uncontrolled urinating can have different reasons. Consult a doctor if you want to keep her at home and also if you want to bring her into a surveilled home for elder citizens. Sorry for you

no this is not normal, my grandad is 80, and my name is 74 and they do not do this, you need to contact her GP, and tell them what is happening, as she may have an infection or something, in which case she will need to use a urine bag.

she also may need a home career to start to some in and take care of her.

Good luck

Get her a psychiatric evaluation at once. And shame on all of you for letting her deteriorate this long. Urinary incontinence is common in old folks, but peeing out of spite is a serious mental problem. Oh, and there's that pesky attempted murder.
