I know how you would be recieved in my local mosque. Nope, noone would kill you or anything, but nobody would accept your gifts either. People would probably just pull their kids' hands and walk out.
It's a pity though, since I personally would see the good intentions behind such act. But then again, I'm not a Muslim.

the persons to ask this question are the same people you would ask if you wanted to show up at a church, temple, or cathedral, pre-school, or even a shopping mall, dressed as Santa and handing out presents
try it sometime (in any of the above places,) without asking first, see how far you get, let us know

I wear a Santa suit in Australia. I am also in an interfaith network in my city. So I can tell you from experience about talking to Muslims here.
Muslims accept Christians as "People of the book" or cousins in faith as long as they -
1) Believe in one God
2) Respect all the prophets (Old Testament, New Testament and Mohommad)
3) ... and even better if you fast during Ramadan and pray 5 times a day
If you have no problem with that, say "Salaam Alekham" (Peace friend) as you give presents to any child that has his/her parents' permission.
If you do not respect their prophet or other aspects, but try to convert them on their own turf, they could get aggressively angry.
(In that case, you will loose your deposit on the hire suit)
