It would depend on the individual candidate, however, I believe I would rather vote for a spiritual or religious person rather than an atheist.

I would never vote for an overly religious president!!! Never!!
That is why I will vote Democratic this next election. (I am an Independent). The Republican candidates have too many ideas that scare me, and they would try to push them on the whole country.

Religion and the state is supposed to be separate but whoever does won't win. I would vote for a candidate who thinks of religion as personal business.

I have serious reservations in voting for someone who wears their religion on their sleeve. Some people are claiming that Mitt Romney is a member of a cult religion; hence, they won't vote for him. Doesn't it seem a bit strange not to recognize that all religions as a cult (and based on fiction) and even more strange to profess that you hear voices in your head telling you what policies to follow? Even the Democrats are walking down this slippery slope. How scary!

If I were afraid to vote for anyone, religious or not, I would not vote for them. But Yes, I would not vote for someone if I thought their religion was being paraded as a reason for voting for them, rather than just one factor informing his/her life.

religious isn't a problem but overly yes. I wouln't want a bible thumper running the country. We'll be stuck in the middle east even longer. Then are marines will be tasked to convert them all to cristianity. Even better they'll be riding around on bycicles trying not to get shot while preaching about John Smith!

Atheist. Because an over-religious president would be walking a fine line between Democracy and Theocracy.

I'd prefer religion didn't enter into it. Its like your sexual orientation, your business. I think the candidates are all playing up their religious beliefs to kowtow to the powerful religious special interest groups. Huckabee scares me though.

I would prefer to vote for a man who is *honestly* religious, and proves it by their actions for the greater good, (by their fruits ye will know them,) which is the best test for a person who professes to be "Godly"
what have they done with their "Godliness"
