Well actually, according to Hamel's diary on the internet, in the 1600's people were married at age 12. That means more fertile years for childbearing. In those days men could have extra wives who had their own apartments away from the marital home.

Yea half that population is in Seoul lol....About 23 or 25 million people. The entire population is about 49 million.
