If you could cite chapter and verse (it is scripture isn't it?) I might be able to share some thoughts. If I recall this verse is a bit obscure.

Matthew 5:32

The Greek word translated as "fornication" is porneia, meaning idolatry generally and all sexual sins specifically, particularly fetish type sins. A fetish is an idol that one is addicted to.

"put away" was a way of throwing the woman out of the house without giving her a divorce. Since she was indeed not divorced, then anyone marrying her would be committing adultery.

Matthew 5:32 (King James Version)
"But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."

It means that the only reason that God accepts for divorce ("put away his wife") and remarriage is sexual infidelity.

Matthew 5:32 NIV (New International Version):

"But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery."

...Most people don't accept this part of God's word, because they see it as too difficult. We as humans are frail beings. It's hard for me to accept too (what if your spouse is violent?), but God's word is the final authority. In the case of a violent spouse I would divorce him and run away, but not remarry.

It helps me to read the NIV Bible. It's closer in language structure to the way we speak today.

it means if your wife is not faithfull , you can put away but the demad for forgiveness makes it not proper to send her away .1 corintians7:10-11, 39 . says if she must go, then you must not marry again untill she is dead.

It means that fornication is totally where it's at -- you're supposed to put away your wife (like in a lunatic asylum) and fornicate with everybody you can.
