get a concordance and read the whole chapter before making up with that kind of decision.
if you study it well enough, you might notice the clear difference between what Jesus is saying and what Jury duty is.
Firstly the JUDGE is going to judge, not you.
You are simply giving an opinion based on your observation.
Secondly, its not like they are going to give you jury duty on a really big case.
and you can always decide to go neutral on your vote.
anyway why live your life by one verse?
why dont you add " love your neighbor as yourself"
so in that case, you will give a fair vote to both the victim and the suspect.
anyway, more than anything.
what do you do with your time and income?
do you just squeeze in biblical teachings on certain occasions like this???
or is biblical teaching your FOUNDATION?
meaning, do you live your life earning money for yourself so you can spend it on your family or so that you can help other people who you are not related to at all... and having the goal of having more money so you can help more people or is your goal to have more money so you can spend more on your own family??
there are many more things that you need to consider, because God is not really fond of part time christians who only squeeze in biblical teaching when its jury duty time...
what do you do out of jury duty will most likeley concern God more than what you do for a few hours .

I did jury service back in August at Canterbury Crown Court.
Believe me it is a real hoot.
One juror fell asleep in a case so it had to be started again with a fresh jury (after 3 days worth of evidence had been given), and in the second case I was on we decided on the defendant's guilt within 5 minutes of going into the jury deliberation room. However, we stayed in there all day so that we could get a free lunch and claim more expenses.
Just go along and enjoy the experience. Believe me you will see what a complete sham the UK justice system is!

You are not a judge, you are being asked to compare the evidence against what the legal system defines as crime. You determine if the evidence shows a person violated the technical details of the crime according to the details of written law.

Did not Paul wrote to the Church of Romans(ch.12) and adhered to them to be submissive to the authority of the Government and it's laws. Well, you Just have to determine if the person is guilty or not, The Judge will take care of the sentencing for you.

They select from a pool and interview you... and they will probably reject you if you have that point of view.
And actually, you are making an excellent point... it's another example of how far Christianity has moved away from those original Christian principles of "forgive others, and God will forgive you."
Courtrooms are just filled with religious people and judges who can't wait to pass judgment on others!!

Yes you certainly can. Of course they will probably find you in contempt and stick you in jail.
you might think only god can judge - but they know different!!!!
Trying to hide behind religion to get out of jury duty should cause you to receive a very harsh judgment at the final coming!!!!

You could, or you could say something about stoning them, which would likely get you excused. On the other hand, if no believers sat on jurys, then we would let unconverted people judge, which would likely be worse.

If you feel you are not good at judging.
Of course, some judges get downright obnoxious over people not doing their bidding. Some of them are like little tin gods.

Absolutely, but make sure you look the part. Wear a cross, look up the verse in the Bible (and learn the chapter by heart). Then go with God.
