It looks like a German Shepherd except it is solid Orange. It is not a Belgian Malinois or Belgian Shepherd and it is not really a German Shepherd. I have been told it is a rare breed from India (very few breeders in the U.S.A.) I Spoke to someone in Hawaii he stated he sells the pups for twentyfive thousand U.S. dollars. I need to find a female cheaper than this to be a companion and breed with the male I already own.

Thanks for the help!

If you are interested in being a breeder, especially in a rare breed, you definately need to be coached by an experienced person, dog breeds that are very rare and have a small gene pool can easily be distroyed by an inexperienced breeder. also, if you are going to be a reputable breeder, and their are very few dogs in the US, you need to be prepared to find one in another country and have her shipped in. Breeding dogs ethically and well is a VERY expensive venture and is extremely time consuming. Also, you need to be sure that the male that you have is breeding quality- they need to be tested for hip displasia (OFA of PennHip), thyroid, eyes tested (CERF), elbow displasia (OFA), and checked for correct conformation to be good enough to be considered as a breeding prospect besides demonstrating correct conformation for his breed. This is the only way to do breeding ETHICALLY. Also, a reputable breeder is responsible for every pup he/she ever produces for the rest of the dogs life. When a puppy is sold, it is the responsibility of the breeder to be absolutely sure the home is appropriate, that the dog will be cared for and be the #1 backup plan if any dog you ever bred needs to be taken back because the person that you sold the dog to cannot keep the dog or whatever. Breeding dogs (at least the right way) is very expensive for the breeder and should be undertaken for the right reasons, not just to make a buck. It is a serious committment and a life- changing decision to become a reputable breeder.

If you are planning on starting up breeding then I would think you would be wanting to know a whole lot more about the breed first. Maybe contact breeders in India and discuss the breed with them. Not knowing much about the breed, you likely won't know what health, temperament and structural issues you are dealing with nor what standard the breed is to be bred to. You can't just buy any female and she be appropriate to breed your male to. If she has the same problems as he does (and there is no perfect dog) then you need to find a male that would be more suited to her and if there are few around, you might have to spend many thousands to get her to the right dog or get frozen semen imported from the right dog. It really sounds like you need to do a whole lot more learning about the breed. Simply because a breed might be difficult for you to locate doesn't mean that you can not still be considered an ignorant back yard greeder if all you are doing is producing poor quality ignorantly bred puppies to try to make a buck off of. Particularly on a breed that is not widespread you HAVE to be dilegent and thoughtful as to their future and know what you are doing as what your decisions now are can have great impact on the breed's future in America and even worldwide. Please learn and be a conscientious breeder instead of just another of the many millions of ignorant back yard greeders pumping out crappy puppies to end up in body piles... 'rare' does not mean good - good means good regardless of how many there are...

Sorry but there is no such thing as a Kalhana Shepherd registered with any kennel club in the world. Who ever sold this dog to you just made up a fancy name and sold you an overpriced mixed breed.

I could probably find you a solid fawn or orange GSD or BSD mix & it would only cost an adoption fee from a shelter.

This breed is a joke like the Welsh mountain goat hound.

Keep your male as a pet and love him and his uniqueness.
(All real mutts are unique, it's the deliberately bred ones that are not.)
