In a strictly Muslim country our troops are to be entertained this Christmas by their officers re-inacting the Nativity?

Maybe, I should have asked - Just how old are our troops?

This is for the questioner and some responders above me. As far as I am concerned, I believe that you are all right. The idea of recreating nativity is a bit "unusual" in a strictly Muslim country but Islam does teach us respect for other religions (especially Abrahamic religions). The nativity is described in the Koran and Virgin Mary, Jesus (PBUH), and Gabriel are held in the highest regard in Islam so there is no problem. The only concern would be that in Islam it is forbidden to try to physically model any such figures. So the figurines of Baby Jesus (PBUH), Virgin Mary, or any angels are a big no no. Even pretending to be like them or acting anything out is not accepted. But again, those rules are for Muslims and there are plenty of Jews and Christians living side by side with Muslims all over the world, even in Muslim majority countries and they can do whatever they want as long it is not public.

So, if they wanted a parade for example, that might be a problem.

Isn't it high time we were all able to respect every ones' beliefs? Why shouldn't the troops have a Nativity as has been pointed out above there are a significant number of Christians in the Middle East and the Quran records the Nativity without any malice.

whose troops exactly?. theres about 148 countries in the world each i'm sure has their own army (except iraq, shia muslims paid by america does not an army make). well anyway but! yes, whats happens when a foreign force occupies another country against its will (1939 poland anyone?) the locals are made to suffer just so a bunch of armed agressors can have fun. myself and my chapter of the military historians brotherhood have been banned from going to berlin an re-enacting the burning of the reichstag. i was going to bring matches and everything.

Sorry but I see absolutely nothing wrong with our troops having the Christmas story re-enacted by their officers or anyone else.

Maybe we should ask, Whats you're problem with it?

I think your point is they are a little too old for this type of activity to be entertaining. Am I right?

Have you ever been deployed away from your family for a year or more at a time. Missed your kids birthdays or even their actual birth? Have you ever been away from everything that is familiar to you?

Doing things like this gives them a sense of being home and helps them to remember what is at home waiting for them.

I guess you can expect questions like this from people who have never sacrificed anything for a cause or someone else it just shows how selfish people are and then have the nerve to make fun of those who do.

You speak like its a problem,
Its for the troops not any Moslem.
It will be in their base,
Not in a public place.

Don't know, but the islamic nativity account in the quran and the Christian story tally in most important points. (Angel Gabriel, immaculate conception of virgin Mary etc.)
