Its full filename is something.part.rar. I downloaded it in 2 parts. how to get the file out as a single file????

The two parts are something.part1.rar AND something.part2.rar

Use WinRar. Google it, you can download it for free. It's a compression utility (like Winzip).
If the person who compressed it has done it properly, you just need to extract part1, and it will automatically extract part2 if they're in the same folder.

if you have them both in the same folder you can use winrar. open up the first file and choose to extract it to a specified location, it should automatically extract the second file with it
and the second should come up [insert file name].r02

It's probably missing a part if it's giving an error.

Open the MAIN .RAR section in WINRAR (google will find you it) and it will reassemble it all for you

If they are what I think they are then use Winzip to extract part 1 first and the second should follow suit. If it doesn't then you need to extract both separately.
