I'm not sure if it is or isn't, what I do believe is the lack of education that is involved in the responsibility of having sex, and the willingness to accept the consequences if you are not responsible.
Curches say "Say no to sex," they tell schools not to give out condoms, educate girls on the pill or spermicide. My teens have already been thoroughly informed and also now the responsibility of just having to help care for a small child because of their ages and their sisters.
I have noticed over the past few years though the larger the family the less likely they are to have a child before highschool, especially if they are one of the older kids. I say we teach them how to have safe sex, use birth control, and shoose partners wisely and not jump in the sack with the first person.

Heap on the blame.... we are strong and broad shouldered...... can not be that these kids are *spoilt* and left to do as they please, and that we have all these new laws about spankings and punishments and ohhhhh, noooo, can not ground our children, that is just plan ole abuse......and ohhh, could it be that they *date* at the age of 12 now ?? or maybe, just maybe it is because there are 13 yr olds dating 18 yr olds.... nahhhhh, that can't be it.... SEX is NOT casual..... Sex is just a game I guess..... Sex should be part of the every day life of us all, even the childrens..... If growing OUT of my faith in God means having *casual* sex and going around naked, I will pass....... good luck to your *other* countries in the future...... go in peace......... God bless
PS- yes, I am being VERY sarcastic...... things like this annoy me just a *tad*........ohhhh, and please do NOT bother telling me that abortions and pregnancies are not high in other countries.... that is down right hog wash !!!!!!!!

European countries have not "outgrown" religion dude. They just do a VERY good job of not letting it get in the way of their politics and policies. I used to be exactly like you. That is until I surrendered to God and finally declared "You Win" when I started praying to him.

Well, actually teen pregnancy has been going down, the rate that is. As with it the abortion rate.
How could Christianity, which calls for abstinence, be responsible for that which they preach against?

I think indirectly, by influencing policy makers to take action against teaching effective means of preventing pregnancy. Also, by ensuring that discussing sexual topics stays taboo people don't share useful information about sex with others. I need to sleep those were horrible sentences.

No. Public education is.
People choose their own behaviors. We are not animals. We have free will.
Having the strength to overcome desires is what seperates us from animals.
You may have the desire to bust your neighbor in the head but you resist because you have to ability to resist. You fear the
consequences.
A four year old doesn't steal the cookie from the cookie jar because he fears the consequences.
When people no longer fear consequences, they do as they wish.
I fear the consequences.
There will be consequences.

No. Christianity is pro-life, and speaks against abortion. People are responsible for the high rates of abortion and teenage pregancy.
