Don't listen to the idiot saying Catholic's and Christian's have everything different because if that was the case then you wouldn't be asking this question. Catholic's is a type of Christianity being that Christians are people who believe in Jesus's teachings. This is a very good question to ask because many people are ignorant to the true meaning of Christianity. If they knew what it means to be a Christian then they would know what is and isn't Christian. Catholic's are a type of Christian.

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/chrstuni/documents/rc_pc_chrstuni_doc_31101999_cath-luth-joint-declaration_en.html

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/index.htm

With love in Christ.

There are two main type of christianity(could be more but i only know 2 of them)

1 - Catholics
2 - Protastants

Same as Many other religions have different types in 1 religion.

Catholics are ppl who are strict in following jesus and pop. Like they do fasting, they go to church every sunday, They dont do adultry, and etc.

Protastants are those christians who take things easy. They do not go to church on every sunday sometime never in their life, they dont care about fasting, doing adultry doesnt bother them.etc....

If u read some history u will find about both of them. christian history is full of about these 2 groups.

Today when most people say catholic, they are referring to roman catholic, but the actual word catholic is supposed to stand for universal church which would refer to everyone who calls themselves christian.

Catholics
>*the major difference* they believe in good works for them to be saved
>prays to saints etc
>saints = good people who are announced to be "holy" by the church in Rome
>church = building wherein people gather every Sunday
>cares on religion not on spirituality

Christians
>*the major difference* they believe in Christ alone for their salvation; it's not bc of their works or whatever they do; it's in what Christ has done (died on the cross) that saved them from eternal separation from God (hell)
>prays to God directly not in saints or to Mother Mary
>saints = everyone who believes in Christ
>church = every being that believes in Christ (like I am a church)
>cares on spirituality rather on religion per se
>cares on the personal relationship with God

--these are just some of the few things that are different bet. them. and i agree in what was told by one of the answerers that Catholics are Christians (in the sense that they also believe in Christ). but Christians (in the sense like what Ive written above) are not Catholics.

the word Christians mean two different things actually. maybe you're confused in what Ive put above. anyway if you do have any questions regarding this one, feel free to email me. happy holidays!

Catholic.. the true church founded by jesus christ..
protestant a lot of denomations which said it doesnt matter what church are you.. you are saved..

Catholic: the catholic church selected the new testament books years before the protestantism arrives..
Protestantism.. claims only the Bible without to understand the real context of the historic.. they use the bible as a book without any origin.. a book is fallen from the heaven.

Catholic follows apostolic succession from peter, john, james etc..
Protestant only follow pastors without authority.

Catholic is the real christianity and true church
Protestantism is christianity but many churches without nothing common.. many of them are racist, invidualists.

What is the difference between Catholics and Christians?
There are two major groups of people who claim to be Christians: Catholics and Protestants. The main difference between them is that Protestants do not accept the pope as an infallible sovereign; that is what the Protestant movement was about. Additionally, Protestants do not accept many of the pope's changes to biblical doctrine; however, most protestants do accept the pope's traditional Sunday sabbath which is contrary to God's fourth commandment seventh day sabbath.
Matthew 15:3. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 6. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. 7. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8. This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Jesus devoted 3 chapters of Daniel: 2, 7, 8 and 4 chapters of Revelation: 12, 13, 17, 18 to exposing and identifying the seventh head of the beast and the apostate church associated with him; the pope and the Roman Catholic Church meet all those conditions.
The "infallible" pope claims the title "Vicar (substitute) of God," in Latin "Vicarius Filii Dei" which in Roman numerals is: V=5, I=1, C=100, I=1, U (formerly V)=5, I=1, L=50, I=1, I=1, D=500, I=1; total=666. The remaining letters do not represent numerals and have no value. Revelation 13:16. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.18. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six (666).

Protestantism is the USA's system of "Christian" worship created to be free from the pope's authority. It is an image of the first beast's religious system, also celebrating heathen holiday traditions while ignoring commandments and Bible doctrine, eg. Jeremiah 10:2-4, Exodus 20:8-11? Those Protestant churches, while protesting the pope, worship on the pope's sabbath, ignoring God's fourth commandment, seventh day sabbath making them the great *****'s harlot daughters.
I was a blind Lutheran being led by blind hypocrites and "false" leaders until, at age 30, I told someone: "That might be in your Bible, but it's not in mine." Now I am respectfully telling you some truths to look for.
Jesus did not say: upon this rock I will build my "Catholic" church, nor did He equate His church, the bride, to the kingdom of heaven. Galatians 2:7. But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me (Paul), as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; 8. For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles. Acts 28:16. And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him. 17. And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together ... 21. And they said unto him, 22. we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
The Bible tells us that Paul got there first, and Peter was never mentioned as ever being in Rome, home of the uncircumcised, heathen gentiles. Just another of the infallible pope's fallible lies. If the pope's main role is sanctifying, then he must be God; no, that's called blasphemy, and that does fit the prophecies of the antichrist. You can see that, can't you?
Revelation 18:4. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Matthew 23:9. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Catholics use icons, pray to saints, believe in salvation through sacraments. Other than that, very little. If you're talking about Catholic / Protestant that is.

The True Founder of Christianity
Did Jesus or his Apostles follow a religion called Christianity? Who were the first 'Christians' ? Who founded Christianity and do the teachings of Christianity conform to the teachings of Jesus?

The teachings of Paul, the true founder of Christianity, cannot be found anywhere in the teachings of Jesus or in those of prophets before him.
