valtrex. or valtrax. the one that has commercials about genital herpes, but doctors also prescribe it for mouth cold sores. i've never had one, but they look pretty nasty, hope this helps. there is also good old carmex. get rid of the tube once it is gone so you dont reinfect urself, or someone else who unassumingly uses your chapstick

Bloodless sores are brought about by way of an epidemic, and viruses don't like heat. Follow a hot spot of a towel soaked in going for walks scorching water from a sink to the coldsore, with a purpose to kill the virus right away. Do that for about 5 minutes with repeat applications. If performed at night, when one awakens the cold sore inside a mouth will likely be healed due to the fact the mouth heals so swiftly. If on the facial epidermis, it is going to be well on its option to remedy.

valtrex will clear that up in 2 days if you already started teh outbreak
if you get them frequently get a script for suppressive treatment which means the will give you enough to take daily and you will never get a cold sore again
my sis and i do not have genital herpes but have always gotten bad coldsores that spread around mouth and take forever to heal.///
i get them for suppressive treatment bc otherwise they are very expensive and you dont want to call the dr and stress yourself out about getting the pills which makes your outbreak worse..,rather i keep a stock of them so as soon as i feel a tingle i take 2 and never even see a blister at all
good luck but valtrex is the way to go
acyclovir is the generic name

See a doctor. You can get a prescription herpes medicine that will clear it up very quickly and with no noticeable side effects of any of that slimy grosness that comes with the creams. (If you didn't know...cold sores are a strand of the herpes virus, so herpes medication will work on them. They are herpes simplex I, while the genital kind is herpes simplex II) Valtrex is one prescription med that is used a lot for both cold sores and genital herpes.
Also, in the future using a lipbalm with sunscreen in it when you're in the sun could help. Sometimes cold sores are UV triggered, so sunscreen will help.

Cold sores are caused by a virus (it's a common virus and about a third of people have it -- you don't have to do anything naughty to catch it!) -- they might respond to Lysine (L-lysine). My doctor put me on 1500 milligrams 3x per day when I had shingles, which are also caused by a virus. Viruses use amino acids (which are the building blocks of protein, NOT drugs), and lysine causes some viruses to make faulty copies of themselves, so the virus just dies off.
Again, lysine is not a drug. It killed my shingles (anti-virus drugs did NOT!) and it might help you. You can get it at vitamin shops and health food stores. Note: Ozgirl is right about the chocolate & nuts; they contain arginine, which is another amino acid. Viruses grow like crazy with that, so avoid foods with arginine!

Garlic! Cut a clove of garlic in half and hold it on the cold sores for about 5 minutes a few times a day. I've never seen anything work as well.

i've suffered all my life too. the best thing i've found is a cream called vectavir, but it's best if you get on to it ASAP. zovirax is ok. always have a cream on hand to get 'em before they turn into a blister. lysine vitamins are awesome. if you take them regulary, especially when you're feeling run down, you can prevent cold sores. if you pop about 3g when you feel one coming on you can stop getting one altogether. also, stay away from chocolate and nuts when you have them.

I found that Blistex works the best. It works better than Carmex or any of the other over the counter lip balms.
