He was not born on December 25....the folks who wanted to "market" i.e. propagate Christianity wanted to overshadow the celebration of Winter Solstice on December 21. Therefore they chose December 25 as Jesus' birthdate.

Winter Solstice was(and still is by some) celebrated as the return of light for hundreds of years before Jesus was born

There are a lot of different ideas. Some say in the fall, like September or October. The best answer I think I've heard, was most likely in the spring, around April. Because it says in Luke that the shepherds were watching their flocks by night. The only time they do that on a regular basis is during the spring birthing season, so they can assist in the deliveries of the lambs. That would also be symbolic of 'The Lamb of God' being born around that time.

EDIT: those of you who say December 25th are ignorant to the fact that date was established by pagans and their celebration of YULE. The christians chose to adopt that date, not knowing the real date, in an attempt to convert more pagans to christianity.

Actually, the Scriptures tell us that Jesus was 331/2 years old when he died. That was in the Spring. Therefore he would have been born around the Fall. It is quite common for shepherds to be in the fields into the Fall months. But it is very cold in the Winter and the sheep are actually indoors in barns in Israel. As far as being referred to as The Lamb of God, this is figurative in that he provided a sacrifice of his own life, such as a lamb was often sacrificed in those times. Israelites never celebrated birthdays as it was something done by the neighboring pagan countries and that is why the actual birthdate of Jesus was never highlighted in the Bible.

December was a time of snow in the holy land, so Jesus Christ could not have been born then.
Scripture says that the shepherds were tending to their flocks at night and it was a clear night.
About the time of September _October was the time of His birth.
We are not supposed to celebrate the birth of Christ, if we were, God would have left a date.

The first time: 25th September 5BCE (or 5BC)

The monk calculating the year in about 1400 CE (AD) miscalculated so we are about 5 years out.

25th December was the Roman festival celebrating Mithra's birth. Constantine just used a convenient festival for Christmas as he wasn't actually a Christian himself.

The second time? Not telling.

So when was Jesus (PBUH) really born?
-----------------------
When "The God" placed the first "Soul" within a human being.

Jesus (PBUH) is the "Soul" within man, from the first human being - till the last human being.

"Peace be always with you."

No one knows if he really existed so one cannot claim any particular day for a birthday, on a basic myth.
