the butterfly is a biblical image of rebirth....the virus seems like sin since only 3 people appear to be immune(trinity) and he dies to give life....and at the end she says that they are alive because he died

yeah, yeah....that's the same thing that I thought but instead of Will Smith being the savior I just thought of him as a representation of those who don't believe and finally listen to God. I liked how they put God in the movie because you don't see that too often (especially if the movie is a hit). The thing with the butterfly didn't make sense to me at all until you explained it. That trinity thing is something I overlooked as well.

No. It's a movie "adaptation" of a science fiction book that has very little to do with the original novel. It's a fun movie, but the novel was much more dystopian with a less upbeat ending.

There are many more than 3 people immune, didn't you see the end? And people besides Jesus have died so other's can live, it's a very common element in fiction, even preceding the gospels.

Not as far as I can tell. But then I don't see allegories in ever sci-fi or fantasy movie that hits the big screen.

Read the book. It's really not allegorical.

I was glad to see there was a little God in that movie. That is something that's really missing from most movies.

I liked that she had faith in God and it was her faith that got her through it. Good movie. Especially being teamed up with anti-god, The Golden Compass from the week before. I Am Legend got the better ratings.

That's an interesting way to interpret the movie. I will watch it again looking through that view.
