Cover the nerve with a temporary filling. You can buy them from chemists. This is only a temporary solution though, you need to get to a dentist at the earliest opportunity.
As others have said oil of cloves will help. I've also heard of applying neat alcohol on some cotton wool.
Hope this situation doesn't ruin your Christmas for you.

I wish we knew which country we are dealing with - with these questions.
In the uk we have emergency dentists at the local hospitals for this kind of thing. they will be open approaching xmas but will no doubt be very busy so you may have to wait awhile. They will treat it with a temporary filling or similar treatment for over xmas until such a time you can get to your own dentist. Anything is better than the pain though.!!
Sorry, i dont know whether these facilities are available in other countries.
toothache remedies are only meant as a temporary measure and should not be taken seriously for a few days. get to the dentist.

There are only two solutions that I can think of. Either stock up on some extra strength Anbesol or when my sister had braces, her ortho would give her this tasteless wax to apply to the wires so that it wouldn't irritate the inside of her mouth. If I'm not mistaken you can buy it from the store but if you can find some then pack it onto where the nerve is exposed to keep air and bacteria out of it until you can afford to have it fixed.

Oneblond is right - a dab of 'oil of clove' on your finger and gently wipe it over the gum near the 'bad' tooth. This though is only a very temporary measure and no doubt you'll have to continue doing this at fairly frequent intervals until such time as you can get 'proper' dental treatment.

you please try to put a cotton pellet soaked in clove oil in the cavity. But please take care to dab off the excess oil by dabbing it over dry cotton.......the too much soaked cotton will cause blisters in the mouth. You may change it quite often till you are in a position to visit your dentist.
Merry Christmas!!

I use ouzo (greek liquor). I gargle with it for about a minute. Then drink it. It really works.
