Anybody have any educated guesses on when it's coming? I want a 5D but I see no reason in buying one now if it's about to be replaced... besides the tremendous price drop on the 5D. Thanks.

It does not matter how old the Canon 5D is. It could be replaced several times over, and still be an excellent camera. It's one of those cameras that remain timeless, not like an entry level camera that gets replaced every year. My suggestion is, if you want it, buy it. When the replacement comes out, whenever that will be, it's going to be probably twice as expensive as the 5D.

Canon has a reputation of releasing new camera models at the drop of a hat. Look at the EOS 1Ds Mark III. Came out about a month after the 1D Mark III.

As Someone Else Here Said: You Will Miss A Lot Of Photo Opportunities If You Keep Waiting For The Next 'Best Camera Ever' To Hit The Shelves. Manufacturers Have Been Doing This For Years, Long Before Digital Even Existed. When I Bought My First 'Auto-Focus' SLR Film Camera They Changed The Entire Line. But I Still Bought The Exact Camera I Wanted, Even Though It Was Soon Discontinued And Dropped To Almost Half The Price I Paid- I Wouldn't Have Done Things Any Different. I Got Shots Of People That Were Soon To Be Gone That I Would Never Have Without It. I Still Have And Use That Camera- Best Money I Ever Spent.

I used to worry about this, too. Then it occurred to me that I was missing pictures while I agonized over when to buy a specific camera or lens or accessory.

Buy the thing and use it. You'll enjoy it and get a lot out of it. I have a 5D, and it's my favorite among my digital cameras. I got used to using an APS-sized sensor, and was very glad to get back to using a full-frame camera.
