Because someone told me that my knee pain could be caused by gout which is sometimes associated with obesity but I'm only 21 and thought that gout usually affected older people.

Gout can affect any joint. If you have gout, you knees will be swollen, inflamed, and the skin will feel hot. It also causes pretty intense pain. If it isn't gout, the next most common causes for a person at your age is cartilage damage, or overly tight ligaments or tendons. You can look for knee and leg stretching exercises on the web if you think this might not be gout.
