We all know that excess of purchasing power causes the DEMAND PUSH INFLATION. But is it not true that it is the desires and demand for lifestyle beyond what is reasonably necessary that causes people to use their purchasing power the way they use? Can I say that simplicity of living standards is the true solution to DEMAND PUSH INFLATION

Oddly, when I saw your question title -- "Friends please answer" -- I thought you might be requesting responses from the people of the Religious Society of Friends, AKA Quakers. As it happens, the "Friends" do believe in simple living, which is the topic of your question!

I do think that simplicity of living standards would enrich our lives. As to whether it would curb inflation, I'm not sure. If we don't go out and by fancy cars, gadgets, and toys, what do we do with our money instead? Put it in the bank? Well, then the bank invests it, and doesn't that fuel inflation?

I know next to nothing about economics, so others, feel free to jump in and correct me if I'm wrong.

By the way, I don't think the question is "wrong category," because simplicity can be seen as a spiritual value.

Sir,
A big NO!!
Actually you have meshed up your question by mixing commerce with morality and practise.

Suppose, You get a lot of money which you can not count. Now for initial few days you may become a reckless buyer. But after 2 - 3 days when all your useless desires will pacify, you will automatically become reasonable in purchasing anything. Even when you have maximum purchasing power you will try to bargain after deciding your priorities for a particular thing.

There is a difference between desire and demand.
Most of the people are basically reasonable in their demand. Our morality keeps a check on our desires and makes it reasonable according to need in the society.

So even when we have the purchasing power we have the reasonable demands, which suits us.
It has got no relation with the DEMAND PUSH INFLATION.

What you mean by simplicity is having minimal demands to live a life.
What is a demand?
Demand basically comes out of necessity. If there will be no demand no new development or progress will be there.

Man will regress to the primitive era again !!
Think it carefully !! A vicious circle !! IF YOU CAN SEE !!!

Yes, you may say that. People need to learn to live within their means. Never carry a balance on a credit card unless absolutely necessary. Don't buy anything that you have not saved up for.

Most of the people who surf the R and S section are immature people whos only purpose is to insult others...I suggest you post this in the economics section....Whenever I post a question in that section I get very intelligent answers. That section is where all yahoo's brain boxs hang out. :-)
