Does anyone have any theories on how a flying broomstick work out of a Harry Potter movie if it were real? How would you make them able to accelarate quickly, maneuver/brake perfectly, and be pretty light while also protecting the rider from winds and inertial winds? I WANT A SERIOUS ANSWER!! NOT JUST SYAING THEY'RE NOT REAL OR THEY WORK BY MAGIC

A turbojet really wouldn't do it. They are much too large to be put on a broomstick and wouldn't provide the level of acceleration required. A turbojet also would not provide any lift. The only way I can think of would be some sort of super dense power supply providing enough energy to create strong magnetic field interactions between the stick and the earth. These could be manipulated to maneuver in any direction and very quickly. But I doubt this will happen any time in the near future. There are probably other methods but I suspect nearly all will involve some form of high voltage and theoretical physics like the unified field theory.

Antigrav with a neural interface between the rider and the broom. Think of the skateboard in Back to the future, and the equipment carts in Star trek the Movie. The closest that we have now is the Japanese trains that ride above the tracks on a magnetic bed.

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

You need a lift and propulsion system that works by some kind of magnetic or gravitic field (using the earth as reaction mass) rather than any kind of rocket, jet, or propeller- due to the bulk of these systems and their fuel supplies. Seems hundreds of years off, to me.

The above answers will not help you...
first of all no one can make balnce on the stick, and there is no proper mechanics to make a lift of such small thing.

take my suggestion, in the movie spiderman 3, Harry easily moves on a gliding machine which can make us assume what kind of mechanics used in it, as i didn't know how they made it but it was very powerful and i loved it.

use a turbo jet to accelerate it, a parachut to apply break, a protecting suit along with a helmet to protect from the winds.
Try imagining new ways to modify a broom stick.

I'm going to check with my neighbor to see where she gets her broomsticks from, and if she knows who builds them.
I'll get back to you.
