I would practice at LEAST two hours a day, six days a week, for at least four years just to be "good." I've been playing for 18 years and consider myself "good." If you want to play like the guys you describe, you should practice as often and as long as possible without interruptions (no phone, TV, girlfriend, friends, X-box, younger siblings.)
Practice with a critical ear. Know when you are playing wrong. Record yourself practicing and seriously listen to the recordings. Find what you are doing wrong and correct it.
You may also want to find an instructor as well. DON'T BE AFRAID TO LEARN TO READ MUSIC!!!! I promise it will help more than you think it will hurt.
Hope this helps.

If you have the passion for it, then you can be a great player also. Practice, that is all I can say, and practice a lot, whenever you can. It doesn’t take a second to learn, but so long as you take it easy and persist, you will find yourself very pleased.
Happy strumming. :)

Young George Harrison practiced until his fingers bled. When it came time to determine who would be the lead guitarist for the Beatles, it had to be him. Only those with total devotion become virtuosi.
