Mormons believe that we are all sons and daughters of God, Jesus and Lucifer included. What I don't understand is... why is that such a hard concept for others to grasp? Ok... where did this "Satan" character come from? If God created everything, then wouldn't that include Satan? God created us, making us his children... would that make Satan his child as well? You may not like it, but it just makes sense.
That said, I'm a mormon who doesn't support Romney :) He's playing politics and not being true to his faith.
Yes, mormons believe that God is a 'perfected man', that he was once like we are now, and that we can someday be elevated to his status. It's all centered around eternal progression.
To those losers giving me thumbs down: Are you stupid, or just rude? I've answered the complete, and accurate, truth about the beliefs of the LDS church, just as asked. You bigots really have a lot of growing up to do.
And for the ignorant person below, they believe that God first came from a planet NEAR Kolob, not on it. If you're going to spout crap, at least try to be accurate.

Mormons believe that we were born as spirits before we came to this earth. Christ was born first, Lucifer, or satan, 2nd. Christ wanted to help our Heavenly Fathers plan to go forward and satan wanted a plan in which we wouldnt have any choices and wouldnt really have any growth and that he would take all the glory. He lead away many spirits, who were also our brothers and sisters. We believe angels are just people that either havent been born yet or already died physically. Since we were all born as spirits first to our heavenly parents we are all brothers and sisters, including Jesus and Satan. Jesus, however, proved his incredible worth and worked hand in hand with God to create this earth and is our savior.
This isnt a secret or hidden in any way. It is basic doctrine and anyone can learn our beliefs by asking a member, a missionary or just going to LDS.org which has pretty much all the talks and articles from prophets and general authorities for all to read or hear on audio for free. I dont get why people act like we have secrets to hide.
I dont see how anyone elses church doctrines and beliefs are any less "crazy" than anyone elses. Some people really need to get off their high horses in here.
Anti mormon jerks that spout off total BS about mormons and their beliefs truly demonstrate their superiority and definitely prove to everyone just how much better it is to be hateful mean spirited bigots then to be mormon. What do you people get out of lying and demeaning other people and religions?
Guess what, if you are in a religion, then by definition, you are in a cult, too. Definition of a cult is not any group that doesnt think just like you. I guess it is too much to ask you people to actually study up on what you are talking about before going off on your spiteful rants.

Here's some food for thought:
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
If Jesus and Satan are both numbered among the sons of God, perhaps that means they are brothers.
If this doesn't cut it for you, consider the fact that Satan used to live in Heaven, but was cast out following a war in Heaven in which he rebelled against God (Luke 10:18, Rev. 12:7-9). Apparently, most Christians believe that Satan was among the highest of the angels in Heaven before his fall. Christians also believe that angels are children of God (Luke 20:36). I don't understand why they consider it such a big deal that Mormons believe this doctrine.

It is misleading to state that Mormons believe Satan and Jesus are brothers without further explanation. Mormons believe that God the Father created all things, so He created both Jesus (God the Son), Lucifer (Satan), and all mankind. Jesus and Lucifer are "brothers" in the sense that God the Father created both of them, in the same sense that Hitler, Mother Teresa, Albert Einstein, and I are all "brothers." It doesn't imply any special affinity or friendship between Jesus and Lucifer. Obviously, they are on opposite sides of the whole good/evil divide.
The Mormon Church itself has clarified this issue: "Like other Christians, we believe Jesus is the divine Son of God. Satan is a fallen angel. As the Apostle Paul wrote, God is the Father of all. That means that all beings were created by God and are His spirit children. Christ, however, was the only begotten in the flesh, and we worship Him as the Son of God and the Savior of mankind."

Mormons are actually members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and we believe in God the Eternal Father, in his Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. We believe the Bible to be the Word of God, and we believe the Book of Mormon to also be the Word of God. We believe that all mankind are sons and daughters of God, and that we have been born into this world to gain a body, and that this life is a test to see if we will choose God or Satan. We believe that we will eventually return to live with our Father in Heaven if we make the right choices. We believe in families, and encourage all the members of the Church to reserve Monday nights as their family night. On Mondays we turn off the TV and phone and sit down together to do something as a family. We are a missionary church, and we believe that every member is a missionary. We believe that marriage is an institution, ordained by God, that is reserved for one man and one woman. We do not practice polygamy. We believe in modern day revelation, and that God has a prophet on this earth today. That prophet is Gordon B. Hinckley. When he dies, there will be another prophet called to take his place.
Scrouge, yes Jesus and Lucifer are brothers, the same as all mankind are brothers and sisters, and children of God. We do believe that Adam is the Archangel Michael, and that Noah is the Angel Gabriel. These are the ones that I know. We believe that Jesus is the Jehovah of the Old Testament.
Secretse, we believe that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, and that God spoke to him. We believe that through the power of God Joseph Smith translated the Gold Plates, and that is how we got the Book of Mormon.
Anirb37, you have us mixed up with Muslims. We do not believe in Muhammad, we believe in God and Jesus Christ. Muslims believe in Muhammad.
BrotherM, I am sorry that you feel there is evidence of hiding the teachings of the Church. These teachings are not hidden, and never will be. You can look for yourself on www.lds.org and www.mormon.org for the answers that you are looking for. We have nothing to hide. To my knowledge, the Church has always been open and aboveboard regarding the teachings and doctrine. What you are claiming that the Church is “hiding” is what is taught in our Sunday classes from the earliest age through the oldest. We teach, and have always taught, that Jesus and Lucifer are spirit brothers and children of our Heavenly Father. Lucifer offered to redeem every soul, so that not one soul would be lost. His offer was to take away our free will, and to receive the glory. Jehovah, on the other hand, offered to do what Heavenly Father asked, to redeem mankind, all those who would choose to follow Heavenly Father, and to give all the glory to Heavenly Father. God, our Heavenly Father chose Jehovah to be the Savior of mankind, and Lucifer was so angry that he started a war in heaven, and 1/3 of the children of Heavenly Father chose to follow him.

the best website is www.lds.org. Mormons are misunderstood because they don't get mouthy about their religion. Yes, they do have missionaries throughout the world, but that is a huge sacrifice for the sake of the church. It is a very family oriented religion (albeit patriarchal, women cannot hold the priesthood). The LDS church is not the same one as the polygamist sect in southern Utah with child brides - that is totally broken away and not affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS).

LDS faith believes in the premise that there was a spiritual pre-existence before we all came to earth. In this spiritual place, God is the father of all of our spirits, and we are given the opportunity to come to earth to exercise faith, and receive a mortal body. In the pre-earth time, Lucifer was our brother, as was Jesus (The first-born). Lucifer rebelled against the plan of our father for us to have agency to choose our own path and rely on a saviour, and was cast out of the presence of God. This is how he bacame Satan. Technically speaking, according to LDS beliefs, we are all spiritually related to each other, to Jesus, and to Satan, as we are all spirit children of God. Many people don't believe this or understand it, which is why it seems to get so much attention.

1...we believe all humans/the angels/etc. are children of God. Even Satan. So yes, Satan and Jesus are brothers just like you and I are family as well.
2...no, God was God, always has been. The whole "promoted to godhood" is wrong.

I'll be willing to go more into detail if you email me, I'm just tired of answering these questions. BTW, do a question search next time.

Here are the rudimentary beliefs that Mormons hold.
1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
3. We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

I think that the best way to get the answer to that question is by reading the book that got our Church started, and then after much pondering and prayer find out for your self what God thinks of them.
