Here's the email I sent to customer service at The Gap:
Hi there.
I'm surprised that someone has to tell you this, but advertising is supposed to entice potential customers to spend their money on your products and services. It's generally one of the first things that is taught in even the most introductory marketing class
Why, then, would the Gap invest time and effort in an advertising campaign that seems specifically designed to drive customers away? I'm speaking of your extremely annoying and intrusive ads on Yahoo.com, that feature the same annoying audio repeating every single time I refresh a page. Even if it was the most amusing ad ever created (which it most certainly isn't), hearing it repeatedly intruding on everything I attempt to do online is a surefire way to guarantee that I will never again set foot in a Gap store.
Congratulations on coming up with the most self-defeating marketing campaign since Coke changed their recipe. Compounding the error is the fact that the ads are still evident despite increasingly harsh complaints over several weeks, representing hundreds of Yahoo members and (formerly) potential customers.
Merry Christmas,

Yep. No more. I used to like there sales. I can find others. They invaded my space just a little too much with that add.

Yeah, I'm with you there, they've lost my business forever, that ad starts up with every page load, and I'm sick of clicking that little arrow trying to get it to stop, only to have the ad pop up like I'm actually interested! Grrrrrrr!

I'll be right there with you. It'll be a silent protest, unlike that ad.

Yeah, these new ads are a pain, almost as bad as door-to-doors.
