I keep being told if I don't believe I will be sent to eternal torment. But, because God "loved" the world he gave us his Son so that only 2% of humanity (the smart ones who do as they are told) will be saved?
Pretty lame love if you ask me. A two bit lawyer can get more people off than that. Do these Christians have an angry God?

God is a God who never changes. He is happy and he is also angry. If you look closer into the New Testament, you will find a story where God talked to moses after the Israelites were worshipping idols. He said to tell all the people who believed in God to come over near him and everyone else stay where they are. He did and only a few people came to his side. Then God said to take a sword and kill everyone else who didn't believe (i am sorry if a messed this story up. I am only telling my own paraphrase).

Thanks for wording the question the way you did.

What gets me is that so many Christians who believe this angry Gd stuff say at the same time that Christianity is an improvement on Judaism because the Gd of "our" bible is so wrathful and unforgiving. Well, WE (Jews) don't believe there is a hell, we don't believe you will be in trouble if you aren't baptised because you inherited sin from other people, we don't only Jews get into heaven. We believe in originals sin, that Gd sees us as all born pure and that we awaken with a new chance at being good every morning *based*on*whether*we*behave*well not on whether we praise Him right, we believe that ALL righteous people (ie. people who treat other people well) will have a place in the next life (if there is one, most of us don't believe in that or worry about it).

My point is, it's nice that you realize the Gd that is so vengeful and wrathful toward people an only saves those who follow a specific religion is a Christian idea, and you don't blame it on us.

I venture to guess, more that 2% of humanity will get it. if not, that much more room for me. A 2 bit lawyer only has his interests in mind. Satan is much better than that and would be offended by such a statement. He wants more than his fair share. And gets it. So, now you've pissed off the two most powerful entities in the universe. Good job. Have a nice life. And, Merry Christmas.

No us Christians (I'm a Christian) don't have an angry God. Our God doesn't choose to send to into hell just because you don't automatically believe in Him, he gives you your whole life. You have usually 70+ years to see that He is God. And more than 2% of humanity will be saved because more of 2% of the world belives in Him.

Merry Christmas,
Kayla

listen those people who tell you off are not content in their own religion so they feel that in order to feel safe (Right) everyone must believe as they do .... but not all christians are like that there are many who simply love God and love you as well knowing that you don't believe as they do, see most good christians love you for the simple fact that God loves you even though you don't believe.. think about it if the Christian God is All powerful like they believe he could stop you from breathing or anything.. the fact that he does not means he cares for you so the good christians love and care for you as well... now let me be clear i am not a christian i am a Muslim but i know a lot of christians good ones and ones who are not comfortable in their religion... but please know there is good and bad in every religion i hope this helps take care my friend

As a Child of God *Christian*, I will repeat this ONE more time for your benefit.... God is ALL things... all emotions, all creation, He made them ALL.... He is A to Z .... you call Him lame..... ok, call Him anything you want... accuse Him all you want.... what you have been told, the torment part, is truth according to our belief, which is the Bible the Word of God..... You got a problem with what God says ?? Take it up with Him...... We will ALL get our chance to face Him...*shrug*..... go in peace...... God bless

God loves you because He sent Jesus to die for your sins. You have the choice to accept Him and go to heaven, to deny Him and go to hell. God is not angry with you or anyone else, He has great compassion for everyone. I think it will be more than 2% that will get saved (hopefully, you may be right). I wish you knew the Jesus that I speak about, He is so much fun to have around.

I'll get flamed no matter how I answer this, so...
God so loved the world that he sent his Son, yes. It was a gift so that we could all enter Heaven (Jesus having suffered for our sins to make this possible).
However, in order to go to Heaven, you have to accept the gift. To accept a gift you have to believe in it.
So basically, to get to Heaven you say (and mean), 'Yes, I believe that Jesus was the Son of God sent to suffer and die for my sins, thus taking my place."

im a christian and i dont think we have a loving God. And he practically gives us salvation people just don't accept it. its like someone you love is hanging off a cliff and you offer them your hand to pull them up and they push it away or don't take it. he hates sin and is angry at sin but if he can get over that hate imagine how much love he has for us. By seeing his awesomly huge hate for sin you also see how much more he loves us through his salvation

No I don't think the God is angry. I suspect the people who interpret the scriptures are pretty bent though.
