How is advantage used on a kitten... My cats have fleas for the first time and i want to use advantage to treat them. on the petmeds website it is sold by packs of 4, 6, and 12. My question is how much do you use on a less than 10 lb kitten to kill the fleas. For example if i get a 4 pack, do i use all four on the kitten or is it used one every month for four months.

Btw, i have 2 kittens less than 10 lbs, and they are 5 months old and they both have fleas.

My kitten Rex was diagnosed with fleas at 7 weeks old, the veterinarian gave him the Advantage spot treatment. For cats 0-10 pounds you use only one tube at the base of the cats neck. You need to part the hair down to the scalp and then squeeze so the medication goes directly on the skin and not the fur so he can lick it off.

Also 98% of fleas on your cats will be killed after 24 hours. Any stray fleas that are around the house will try to jump back on your cats but now your cats body is an extermination system and any flea that jumps on dies within 2 hours. This results in the full house flea extermination.

You don't have to keep the cats on the treatment for 4 months, two months i would say is significant to ensure the flea cycle has been sufficiently broken. And the cat gets ONE dose in the pack of 4, so yes a 4 pack is equivalent to 4 months treatment.

Advantage Mutli works great on kittens (the teal box).

Use one tube per month until the package is done. Then purchase a new package if it is at all possible for fleas, tickets, heartworms, or ear mites to attack your kittens.

You can also visit your vet for a pill that I believe is called Capstar. It will kill all adult fleas within 24 hours (the Advatage will take care of the eggs). The pills from my vet are only $4 per pill.

When I first got my kitten he had some fleas and the pill took care of them right away and I haven't had a sign of them since.

It's ONE pipette per animal, this is why they sell them in this form, so it's convenient for use! If you had to use four, they'd put this amount in one pipette.

The instructions will tell you everything you need to know. Make sure you read them carefully so you're using the stuff properly - it must get right on the skin of the animals. Also beware that the stuff you buy online is sometimes not the real thing.

I believe Advantage is the same as Frontline spot-on in that is can be used on animal from 2lbs in weight, but don't take my word for it, check it. Most kittens weigh 2lbs by the time they're eight weeks old unless they're particularly runty or debilitated which is why the guide is 8 weeks of age.

You can use Advantage after age 8 weeks - it is fine for your kittens once they reach that age. Use one tube at a time for 4 months.

The tube that will be in the box is premeasured. It is a once a month application. I think that advantage comes in (over 10 lbs.and under 10lbs.). Personally I think Revolution is better for cats. It kills fleas, prevents heartworm, and also kills earmites. You may want to look in to that too if you want.
