He told me he feels like sometimes I don't appreciate him.

Now he didn't want to tell me this but something was bothering him and I had to pry it out of him.

I don't know what to do to make him feel appreciated...and it is hard for me because I don't like wearing my heart on my sleeve.
Any ideas?
Nothing real sexual please, keep in mind we are only 17.

I had the same thing happen with my boyfriend and I.

What I found out worked the best, is to randomly tell him you love him. Also, try by giving him little kisses on the cheek, he really appreciates those too, along with hugs.

Hope this helps (:

Just be there to reassure him how much you love him, take him for a nice walk on the beach or in the park and fly a kite and plan a nice romantic lunch at the park and a nice romantic dinner on the beach and cook a dinner for him at your house, and make it really romantic, and he will really appreciate the effort you put into a romantic evening for him. Just set aside some time in the day where you two can enjoy your company, go rollerblading, play volleyball, fly a kite, a romantic walk on the beach, a romantic dinner, a romantic lunch in the park, it really does not take money or anything expensive to show your loved one you love them, it is the thought that counts.

Make lots of eye contact with him. Hold his hand a lot when you go places. Ask his opinion on things. Smile at him often. Tell him you're glad he's in your life, that you're glad you met him, that you're glad the two of you are together, and things like that. Essentially, many men are insecure and have to have positive feedback all the time. It's like adopting a dog who has been mistreated, requiring lots of attention to gain any confidence.

Let him know how much he means to you by telling him how much it means to you that you can talk to him.

Tell him he makes you smile, that you care about him, that you think hes special

give him a massage if he is stressed

squeez him tight when he gives you a hug
you give him the hug

tell him how much it means to you that he can talk to you

if you've honestly never lied to him tell him that

when he does things for you thank him and tell him how special his treatment makes you feel..

if he isn't doing things for you then what is he looking for appreciation for? his existance?

you have to tell him how he makes you feel and what needs it meets:

when you text me i feel happy because it meets my need for connection

when you blow me kisses, i feel elated and it makes my whole life smile because it meets my need for affection

tell him specifically the behavior, then how it made you feel and what needs it met for you.

when you held my hand, i felt grateful because it really met my need for close companionship
