I don't think there is anything more truly socialistic than this. And Alaska is a very Republican state! Explain that!

Clearly, nobody has any idea what socialism is. This comes closer than anything else that gets accused of being socialistic here.

Didn't you learn anything from the Simpson's Movie?

“Welcome to Alaska. Here’s a thousand dollars. We pay everyone in Alaska to let us destroy the environment.”

Republicans will look the other way if they're getting a piece of the pie.

Since there isn't a single person here that actually knows what socialism is, I'll just say No. It's too much work to correct every fool that's here.

It's simply giving residents a piece of the money that someone else is pumping from their state.

In most countries, the sane ones at least, mineral wealt is a resource owned by the people through the state.

Since when does Alaska own an oil company? Unless you mean the taxes collected from oil revenues? If it's a private company sharing revenues, then they are voluntarily sharing profits with the people, not being forced by the government to redistribute wealth..

No, it's like you said,"all residents" get it. They all get an equal share too. Under socialism only the "needy" would get the money. The rich would not see a dime. If Bill Gates lived up there he'd get the same amount as the next guy.

Alaska has to PAY people to live there. In order to keep their economy flowing, people are needed to fill key employment positions. Instead of limiting the reward to only those people, they reward everyone who lives there. I'd say it's a good strategy.

No, socialism is where the government owns everything and you wait for handouts from them. Capitalism is where the people make money and buy what they want and the government doesn't ration anything. Oil revenue sharing is neither of those.

That's distribution of wealth.

Socialism is the redistribution of wealth. It's taking my money and giving it to someone who isn't as successful as I am.
