THere will be third party game support for the ps2 for as long as the 360 and wii have their games produced on dvds. It appears playstation is also continuing to produce games for the ps2 as well. In fact sony just released a new ps2 in white.

Yes, Sony will stop producing PS3 games but there will probably be PS2 games in production until maybe 2009.

Most of the games for the PS2 that are coming out, really aren't anything special. All of the games produced by Sony are only on the PS3 and games like God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Haze and Grand Theft Auto 4 will not be on the PS2, they will be on the PS3. So basically if you want to play the best games that are coming out, you'll have to upgrade to a PS3.

There are games scheduled throught 2008 and even first quarter of 2009.
Planet 51 is the last scheduled game that I see in the first quarter of 2009.

I still have my PS1, and will keep my PS2, as I will most likely get the $399.00 model of the PS3 next year.
I still have PS1 games I have not finished...in fact, my current game is Final Fantasy VIII....The graphic are great for a 10 year old game!

Oh wow. That sucks since my cheap father just bought me a ps2. o_o

I'm not sure if you're wondering about this because you have an old console but; maybe you could sell your PS2 and then with that money plus extra buy a PS3? :]

not yet but soon. u can try for a few more months. You know like when the wii came out, some games still came out on gamecube. however some newer games, for example assasin's creed is only for ps3 and xbox360 (pc version in future)
