A sphere is natures most perfect shape. Spheres are common because of graviational pull - Each piece of the planet is trying to get to the center. Spheres abide by natural laws, not god. The sun send light in all directions, not just ours and the moons. The sun is just another star. There are millions of stars in the universe. Most are invisible even with the aid of a telescope. Why are they there? What use are they serving?

Sunlight is packed with cancer causing UV rays. The sun will eventually consume the earth. The sun is not a very safe light. God is not a very good designer.

God had nothing to do with it. Like the earth (and the rest of the solar system), it is made of matter that accreted some 4.5 billion years ago, and shines by light reflected from the sun.
