Uh, tell him... If not, you can always resize.

It is definitely important that he know the correct size, because any ring with a stone is not a good idea to resize as it disrupts the setting. The way I let my fiance' know my ring size was when we were in the store one day I tried on some rings (right-hand of course), and made a point of saying how one would have been perfect, but it was a 7 1/2 and I wear a 6 1/2 on my ring finger. It worked =] Haha.

My boyfriend tried to sneakily measure my finger and got it wayyy off. He got me a size 8 ring and I'm a 4, but it doesn't matter because a ring can almost always be resized. If you can't find a tactful way to bring it up, just wait for it and then have it resized, the sizing usually takes less than a week if it has to be sent out, sooner if they can do it in the store.

You can say something subtle and clever like a ring you wear is getting a little loose, you think its a 7 and you're a 6 1/2. I take my two rings off when I take a shower, so my fiance could have measured then. But he measured my finger while I was sleeping, lol.

Tell him, "I have this old ring I need to go get sized because it is an 8 and I am a 6 1/2 on my ring finger, and I'm going to start wearing it on my right ring finger."
If you need to sneakily tell him your ring size, he probably isn't ready to buy you a ring, though.
Maybe tell you mom, best friend, sister, etc. If he wants to know, those are the people he will ask.

I just got my finger sized and then got my picture taken with Santa with him looking at my hand with a surprised look on his face. Then I sent him the picture with a note saying Santa knew what I wanted for Christmas and just in case he ever needed to buy me a ring, that now he had the size.
I needed his finger size so I just pulled him in the jewelers and we pretended that we were buying wedding bands. He said that he needed his finger sized and then I knew what the size was! Not to mention the fact that we looked at rings for like an hour after that! It was great!

Find a pic of the ring, print it out and write down your size. That's what I did.

Leave another ring that fits on that finger (make sure he sees it on that finger) laying around. If he's smart, he'll take it with him or at least trace the inside of it.

You don't need to tell him. Most rings are size seven (I know it's standard at Kay). After he gives it to you, take it back to the jeweler and they will size it for you.

if it's just for a gift ring, you can just drop it into conversation. I have a day planner that also has all my sizes in it that my husband can peek into if he forgets a size.
if it's engagement time, make sure your mom and your best friend know, so if he's lost on it he will have someone he can ask that isn't you.

Don't bother trying to sneakily tell him, men never get these hints anyway. Don't worry about it, he will either figure it out himself or you'll just get the ring sized- it's not that big of a thing.
