yes... I'd rather have something heartfelt and personal, than something from a catalog or store shelf... actually i'd rather just enjoy time with friends and family than have more stuff

i agree. for her birthday, i made my friend a scrapbook of all our pictures from high school together (we're seniors this year) with little comments and private jokes. she said that she loved it so much - and i know she really did.
i feel like that is a gift that she'll cherish more than a pair of earings or a new necklace. yes, jewelry is nice, but the scrapbook she'll look back on in 10 years and she'll miss me. the necklace she'll put on in 10 years and she'll think about whether or not it matches her outfit. not about the person who gave it to her.

Yes and no.
I hate when people give me a gift they really like and have worked hard for, but it's something that I don't like...because then I feel terrible for not liking it (even though I pretend to so as not to hurt their feelings, lol).
So, yes, the thought counts a lot, but I like when people use common sense too. :p

The thought realy does count. I love it to when people just give me gifts even if it is just a card or something. When I get or give a gift it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. LOL!!

I personally, think it does. I have an aunt who is in financial trouble, but she still gets me a little something every year, even if it's from the dollar tree. I don't care what it is, I'm just glad she loves me, and cares enough to get me something. So this holiday season, if you get a gift you don't like, think about how they thought of you, and how they went through trouble to get you something.

I totally agree! Gifts to me are not about what it actually is, but how much thought was put into it. :) And I do the same when I'm giving, try to really make gifts special for the person recieving them. :)

No, people like to believe that but how many people look in a christmas card for money and then toss it, lol.

i believe it, it's the most adorable thing when you can tell that someone tried really hard to get you something that you'll love (even if i don't love it, i almost do just because i know that they love me or else they wouldn't have tried so hard).
