It comes with all of the original furniture and what you see in picture minus laser sight. It needs a new clip release because the clip falls out. If its not a great deal then I'm not sure if I want to drop that much on it. I am looking to get back into recreational shooting but I also want to make a worthwhile investment.

In my opinion, you can do a lot better for yourself for a used 500 dollar AK.
New Romanian AK's are going for around 450 to 500 dollars.
Shop around, or offer him 350 for it.

A new one with a folding stock, bayonette, some magazines, and the plastic galil forend is only $499, so I don't think a used one with a faulty magazine release is worth any more, or even close to the same amount. If he'll fix the magazine release then I'd say $400, maybe, if everything else is perfect, and if he'll give you the original parts. The dustcover rail mounts are garbage, more for looks than anything. If you're planning to put a scope on an AK rifle, put it on the side rail, where it's supposed to go. It won't wobble around when it's mounted right.

No. IMO the Romainian AK is at the lower end of the AK spectrum. For $500 I would get a Saigia converted or a .308 VEPR II from Robinson Armament.

I would say no, the price of ammo for the 7.62x39 has gone way up, it would just be an expensive plinker. They are not noted for accuracy most of the people I see shooting the AK semiautos are doing it at fity yards and getting larger groups than my 66 year Lee Enfiled old gets at 100, and I paid $200 for it. If you just want a semi auto plinker get a Ruger 10/22 they are a lot cheaper and a lot cheaper to feed.

You, would be wasting money in 2 ways, buying this AK. They aren't very accurate at over about 50-75 yards. The advantage of the AK, would be, if you could get everything in place ( to be legal ) & convert it to full automatic, then when you spray around ammunition fron a full 30 round clip, youy MIGHT be able to hit something , at over 100 yds. The other thing is, if you do a lot of shooting with it, you can blow a lot of money on ammunition.
Your best bet, would be to get yourself a decent .22 calibre .
