Not a myth...chewing of ice burns calories (not like running or sit ups will but still...)

And chewing ice tides your appetite, so you won't crave a not so healthy snack late at night...you chew on ice instead...

It's not so great for you teeth though.

Ice cream is full of sugar as well as fat and is does not help you burn calories, not sure where you heard that but if you'd like to be healthier you would not eat ice cream at all or eat it as sparingly as possible. Fruits and vegetables sound a bit better for giving energy and you burn calories by excercising not by what you actually eat (perhaps what you dont eat).

for one ya'll, she said ICE not ICE CREAM....
for two, the reasoning behind the fact that it causes you to lose weight is because not only is it water, which is super healthy, but it's COLD, and therefore you're body has to burn more calories warming itself up. I am ALWAYS cold, and I drink ice water all the time. eating ice cause you to shiver, burning cals, etc.
by itself, however, the effects are minimal. I would think

Not with that fat content. The thing that makes ice cream taste good is the fat content/cream content in the ingredients. Add in the sugars, and you've got a double whammy.

No, you can't loose weight on ice cream. It isn't burning any calories other than the ones required to digest food.

Burn calories......by chewing it? Probably no more than regular food. But it's not good for your teeth, that's for sure.

Some anorexic girls eat ice regularly (to fool their bodies into thinking they're full), if that's what you're talking about...but this is SO not a good idea.

Lose weight by eating right and exercising.

It burns a few more calories but it's not like you'll get skinny because you drink ice water. Ice water with a healthy diet and working out sure.

Cooling your body's core temperature stimulates your thyroid gland to produce more thyroid hormone---a hormone that speeds metabolism. So yes, in theory, drinking cold water could improve weight loss. Heat inhibits your thyroid. If you think about it for a moment this process is advantageous to survival: when it's cold we need to burn calories for heat, and when it's warm it's not quite as necessary to stoke the furnace of our metabolism.
Why is Houston and the states of Mississippi and Florida, typically warm areas, listed as among the fatest populations in the U.S.? Interesting thought...I don't know.

Hopefully I've been of some assistance to you. Remember, it's a theory based on physiology, not on any clinical evidence.

It doesn't... Even if it did, it's not good because chewing your ice scrapes of the enemal on your teeth so they turn yellower more easily.

Although you're not going to lose 50 pounds, celery will help you lose wait. It takes more calories to chew it than it actually has init, so you burn calories. = )

Well it does burn calories, but not enough to lose a substantial amount of weight. The only way you'd be able to tell how much weight you lost is by using a machine to weight in grams.

Well, if you would swallow ice cubes, then your body would lose heat which would need to be replaced by burning calories. So I guess the answer would be yes...
