Betty,
The HOLY SPIRIT gave the Apostles the ability to speak with those at Pentecost in Acts 2. They were given the ability to speak with all of those from different languages/areas at the same time. Peter preached and thousands were baptized. The HOLY SPIRIT gave the Apostles many powers above what others had and knowledge to begin CHRIST'S CHURCH on earth. Have a great Christmas!
Thanks,
Eds

The Holy Spirit came to the followers of Jesus in Acts2:1-3 and the Holy Spirit comes to anyone who believes in Jesus.

Actually, the fact that 2000 years later, after Jesus is no longer with us, you can ask a question as this is proof that the Holy Spirit did, in fact, come...Because the Holy Spirit is what was to live on inside the hearts and heads of those who believe after Jesus left.
As an atheist, you still believe in doing what is right or wrong for you, I would suppose, and the lessons on how you live your life came from someplace--whether your parents, teachers, books, movies or whatever...While much of it may be your own philosophical creation (or may not be), the foundations of what you believe came from someplace....Some thing taught you how to live your life besiees experience itself.
The Christian believer also has a code by which to live, and many of the ways I live by, as a Christian, as a Messianic Jew who believes in both books, come from the Bible. They didn't always; I have been the route of the rabbinic Jew, the agnostic, the atheist and even a regularly attending churchgoer in my search for the truth. I have learned to live my life by things I don't see, and which I have come to understand in ways I never did before.
I won't quote from Scripture, although there are numerous passages from the days of Moses through to the writings of the New testament in which GD has said that it is written on our heart. But, the fact that i can live by the Scriptuures, and use it as a guiding line, whether others accept it or not, is proof to me that a Holy Spirit does exist.
Freud called a code of morality our id, our ego and our superego. Others call it a conscience. Others call it common sense. But, those of us who believe in the ways of the LRD believe it comes from His Words, words He spoke when Moses stood with Him, and when the Prophets heard Him, and words He spoke when He walked beside other men, and trained other men.
You can call it what you will-but as a Believer, I call it Divine Intervention. So, no, it won't appear in person, in a physical form---but the Holy Spirit is indeed in all of us, and I have changed since I have accepted that, very muchly...
You can call it what you will-but to say the Holy Spirit has never arrived to a Believer is like me saying the conscience, the ego, the id, the superego, the moral code, the belief systems, the philosophy, the dogma never existed to someone else because it will never be seen...it can only be displayed or expressed by what we say and what we do.

You need to stop thinking for a while and you start to hear it.
Thinking nonsense thoughts all of the time clutters up the mind and makes us deaf to the spirit.
This is what it sounds like.
I am the ocean, you are the raindrops. We are the same. You raindrops, because of your similar size and location, see yourselves as separate, as units, as individuals. This perception of your selves has been your only reality since you were born in the clouds. You have no other perspective of your selves. As you fall through your short lives here, you see the ocean far below. On a certain level you understand that it and you are one and the same. You envy its magnificence. The thought comes,” I am water too, am I not also part of this magnificence?” Then you realize that you are but an insignificant raindrop. You can only look at that distant ocean in awe. The ocean with its timeless knowledge sees you quite differently. It sees you for what you really are. Its most precious children, bravely returning home to share the experience that ocean as a whole could never have experienced. The ocean has nothing but love for you. Because it understands that it is you, and that you are it. It knows only truth. Until the moment you reunite you can only speculate. The ocean's love for you is unconditional. It holds no foolish thought of punishing you for not falling quite right. It only waits with great patience for your homecoming.
The tiny collisions you had with the other drops on the way down, at the time seemed so significant. Often you feared that if you mingled with them too long you might get to close and in the process even lose your identity. All this because you understood your true identity not! You are ocean, you always were ocean, you always will be ocean. How you currently perceive yourself raindrop, snow flake, puddle, stream, River, or lake matters not. This is all illusion, only perception. You are ocean, you are spirit. You and I are one; we are the All That Is!
Love and blessings Don

I know that the Holy Spirit lives within me. He is here and working showing that we need to be saved. The Holy Spirit is the person that opens up people's eyes to know that they need Jesus. Every person will be visited by the power of the Holy Spirit before they die. He will show each one that they have to accept Jesus to be saved. We then have the choice as to what we decide to do with that information. He is also that voice within us that tells us when we are doing something wrong or right.

The Holy Spirit is the red-headed stepchild of Xtianity. It's the god within each of us that renders organized religion pointless.

The Holy Spirit is here and many have been filled with the Holy Spirit. Many have great gifts of teaching, faith, healing and other gifts. Repent of sin and accept Jesus as your savior and then ask him for the infilling of the Holy Ghost.

pends on who you ask. Pentecostals believe the holy spirit makes them jump around and speak jibberish. So... there's a really small chance he's there.
