Was it for the good or bad? What changed?

I changed into someone who is more confident but confrontational and have a tiny bit of an explosive temper.

For the most part my change was for the bad. There was some good.

As far as my attitude I changed for the bad. I changed for the good in the ways that I am more of a leader, I am more responsible, I am more "aware" of myself. I am not shy anymore (back in the day that was a bad thing for me). etc.

I would go with what you said, plus attention to detail, how to lead, how to follow, how to motivate, and how to discipline.

The biggest, I have zero tolerance for BS, and useless arguments.

When I got out of the Navy at 23, I felt a lot more cultured than people I knew in high school who I met up with again after my service. Few of them hadn't even been out of the state for extended periods of time yet; while I had been to 13 different countries, lived three different states and visited three others, spent a large amount of time in Puerto Rico, and had experienced many different cultures of the world.

A lot of them also went right to college out of high school, so they hadn't yet truly experienced the real world before deciding on a career that may or may not fit them. I took the time after high school to serve my country and look at a bunch of different professions from a military stand point (and pretty much ever Navy job translates into the civilian sector, even Boatswain Mate) before settling on my own career path.

All in all, I say the military changed me for the good.

Are you sure it changed you for the bad?

You can't go through life being a mouse. A little confrontational is a good think sweetie. When you know you are right don't back down.

Like you I got more confident.

I'm more confident and I tend not to care what other people think about me. I would say it's for the better, and there's nothing wrong with being confrontational.
