Yes there really can be a big gap between the amount of space needed to save PS3 games.

When it comes to PS3 exclusives, they are much more advanced and are way larger in size in comparison to multiplatform games. And from what I've noticed, some PS3 exclusives tend to take up more space.

For instance, on my PS3, Heavenly Sword takes up a little over 3,700KB, and Lair takes up over 2100KB of space. When you first start playing Heavenly Sword and Lair, the amount of space it takes up is smaller, but as you progress through the game and save the game that number grows larger. Both Lair and Heavenly Sword were over 20GB of size on the Blu-Ray discs.

Some say that they require more , because it tells you how much space you need to save everything.

For example NHL 08 -you can save rosters, settings, tournaments,Dynasties, plays and many other things so it would require alot of hard drive space.

A game like Ratchet and Clank- would require very little because it only has a story mode
