Yes, a Japanese Dualshock 3 controller will work with U.S. PS3's. I've even seen a Youtube video of someone opening their White Dualshock 3 controller and testing it out on screen with their PS3, so I know that it works for sure.

yes sony already confirmed japanese dualshock will work on american ps3's
also i've seen many reviews that it works great with american ps3's

I don't think it would , but I could be wrong. European and Asian electronics don't work in North America.
