or should I say Christians, balance the beliefs of human rights and the Christian way of life? There are just some things that I think people have the right to do, like gay relations, but don't agree with God's word. The Bible was written by humans afterall, and one of the disiples were sexist, so how can we completely trust that what they say happened, actually happened? And what about all the stuff that was supposed to be in the Bible but the Romans decided not to put it in there? These Biblical myths that most Christians refuse to believe, make more sense to me in the end. They fill in a lot of the blanks. Just os everyone knows, I'm not asking this to be ignorant, I really do want to know. I'm trying so hard to understand, but the gaps keep screaming at me, I need more (and better) answers. I truely want the truth. Gee, maybe I should take Bible study classes at my college.

Richardson, like I said, I wasn't asking to be ignorant. If you can not refrain from insults, then maybe you need to go pray. I will pray for you.

My best take on the Bible is that it is a compilation of the attributes of God by men who knew Him. It is their experiences of their walk with Him and is a window into how He worked in their lives. I believe that God blessed the Bible as the most accurate translation of His being do to the overwhelming odds of any book going thru what it did to get to where it is today. Many people worship the Bible as if it were god itself but this goes against what is written, "thou shalt have no other gods before me". But if you truly study the Bible with an open heart to find out how God works, you will see Him in everything around you that works for the good of mankind. Homosexuality works against man in that it does not allow for the continuation of the species. If you follow its teachings about who God really is, you will finally see what a truly blessed life you can have. But this all takes faith in something that cannot really be proven conclusively thru normal means. And that my dear is what faith is all about. Please dont make the mistake of believing in people. They will always let you down. Get to know Him and He will make your paths straight and true.

In my opinion you should take some Bible study classes at your collge, or atleast some classes on Religion in History. The classes can be great if they are of interest to you. I just got done taking a Religion in Popular Culture class. The class was alright, but I wish it had covered more topics.

Some Christians can see other people as simply that: other people with other values and lives. Others, moved by scripture, feel the need to convert everyone to their ways. The main hangup about gay marriage, or atleast over here in the USA, is the Christian Community tends to forget the separationg for Church and State. They understand the State should not medle with their religious freedom, but toss out the second part of the sentence which forbids religious institutions from medling with the State. I'll stop before I get off on a tangent.

The history of sexism in Christianity is very interesting. In the beginning women held basically an equal role and were very crutial to the formation of Christianity. Over time their voice became lessoned and they were pushed into the background. For a long time the scripture of women being silent in the Church was inforced. In many Denominations today women can not hold authority within the Church. This is changing again though because I have noticed more and more Denominations allowing women Pastors and other roles.

Constantiene wasn't the only person to cut out religious text, he was just the first to dogmatise it. Before him the different books circulated amongs the early Christians, some were kept and some disgarded based on what the group felt to be true. One of these texts was from a man who believed women could not get into heaven, his other stuff was rather contradictory as well. I've forgotten who wrote that, if I find it I'll edit the name in. Basically any book that the groups disguarded, or that Constantiene chucked out are left out. Copies of some still remain, thankfully.

You are right; some of the books that were disgarded are very intersting to read. Other books that were added later are also intersting, like the Book of Mormon. A class on the History of Western Religions, or somehting similar, would probably be of much interest to you.

Lots of serious stuff in your question.

Human rights and Christian beliefs are not the same and Christians recognize that. God writes the rules, not humans.

The Bible was written by humans who were acting under the guiding hand of God thus All Scripture is God Breathed.

We can trust what they say happened because we can look around today and see that it was true.

The Romans [Roman Catholics] did decide somewhat differently than some other Christians. Look at what was written and only accept those things that fit into the entire council of God. If anything disagrees with other Scripture then it was not real and should not be included.

I don't know what myths you are referring to but the same answer still holds. Check everything against the Scriptures and only accept those things that are in agreement.

You need to team up with another believer who can help you find these answers. Help is out there, just ask for it.

Hope that helps.

Just because YOU think there are some things people have a right to do doesn't mean that God or the Bible agree with you. The main problem is that people try to mold the Bible to their ideas because we find it too difficult to deprive ourselves of things we think will bring us pleasure. It's kind of like when children want to eat candy 24/7, as parents we have to say no. The kids don't like it or agree with us, but as parents we have to make rules for our children.

Why should the Christian "lifestyle" have to give in to some other "lifestyle"?

Why do those who support "gay rights" not support "religious rights"? In what aspect does a religious institution have to bend to the will of those who do not agree with the religion? Has religion outlawed people from being together? No. Religion has always stated that within its own confines, certain acts are not supported.

God said it is wrong... He made man and woman... Being a Christian I follow the bible... not just certain books or passages but the whole thing... But having said that, my faith is mine... mine and my family.... I have my childs spirituality on my shoulders, not everyone else.. Who they choose to love is there business, how they choose to express that is also there business, not mine, it doesnt effect my spirituality in any way, shape or form...... My God is a loving God, he doesnt hate a gay person, they are also his children who have chosen a lifestyle... But he loves them regardless.. I think to many people are claiming to be christians and are cruel and judgmental, and not forgiving, are pointing the finger at other people, who does effect them at all, live your own life people.... and pray for others...... let God deal with his children, and you take care of your business.... Merry Christmas and a bless New Year............

Maybe you should take some bible study classes. I can't understand making laws people have to wear helmets but promoting a lifestyle that totally damages their Anus. I mean is you are going to make laws MAKING people be good to themselves let's just go all the way right? Why stop at Homosexuality? even if you leave Chrsitianity out of it people act pretty crazy sometimes and they make REALLY WIERD LAWS. The bible is the only thing I have seen that is sane.

Because like all religions, they are hypocrites.
The followers of the flocks ARE sheep, and bleat out the same nonsense over and over again, in the vain attempt to change your point of view.
The Christian church does indeed demonise gays, so why is it that priests have been caught having sex with alter boys?
Or does that come under, "suffer little children"?
or is there a passage you would like to quote?

I know lame. I mean, people that beleive in god alot of times go overboard with everything, and actually push potenial christians away. Like you, I think that gay people are fine the way they are( they aren't going to hell) Otherwise why would god have made them that way. They would not have chose to be that way and get teased. God wants us to love everyone , accept others difference ,and treat eachother right. By saying gay people are going to hell shows how someone isn;t being very godly now is it ? How about people saying that you are going to hell if you have a tatoo , a piercing ,or have has prematerial sex... swear. Come on, like they have never sinned! Does that mean that they are all going to hell too? God loves us all, so t why would people that committed beginner sins go to hell forever. i don;t think so. People shouldn't have to live in fear of god. People should just focuse of being good people and believing in him.
