Robin:
That's very true. I've had More experiences with non spiritual atheists, than with those who are.
Both have so far been positive and thought provoking.
I was curious, as I had started looking at some of these other parts of the forum and kind of wondered.....

Warrior: Good answer.....
Actually I am glad I asked...despite the person who said I should have looked it up....
Because my guess is, the people who answered are maybe not the same ones who answered before and thus have given me different answers and something to think about.....

I was not trying to "draw anyone in"...
I'm not looking to hurl insults or anything at anyone, it was a question.

Well, where else could we go to talk about religion? I'm here because I enjoy debating and learning about different beliefs, and this is a good place for it. I go on the Mythology section too, but that doesn't mean I believe in Zeus. You don't have to believe in something to be curious about it.

Atheism is the rejection of religion. That means it is ABOUT religion. So this is the place to talk about it. And this question gets asked like 50 times a day. Are you guys really that insecure that you can't take criticism?

There are as many reasons as there are atheists. For me, I see R&S questions in Society and Culture and answer the ones that look interesting (all sub-category questions are shown in their parent section), along with other questions from other sections.
Then there is the fact that quite a number of questions are posted to atheists or deal with atheist related issues.
And finally, I have a vested interest in how religion impacts society and the lives of my family.
Edit:
Oh, forgot, *drink*! Thanks for the round and Merry Christmass.

- spirituality without religion is much healthier
- "absence of religion" is a very relevant religious theme

Well, some religions like Taoism and Confucianism, don't have a god. And general not-any-specific-religion atheists can be spiritual and knowledgeable on many relevant things in this section.

If atheism is not a religion, why are you asking a question about atheism in the Religion & Spirituality section?
We do not ask questions about atheism here. We only ask questions about religions.

As Atheist is as free to talk about religion as anyone and our questions and answers pertain to religion where else should we be.

The same reason there's not a forum for people that dont own a pet, people not interested in gardening, and people that don't read books.

I can think of these for now..
1. Because theists keep posting questions addressed to atheists.
2. Because it is interesting to see faith vs reasoning in action. It strengthens our atheism. :)

it's not. Atheism is defined as not following an organized religion, so i guess it's a proper place to post a question
